Your vehicle does not meet the criteria for an air quality certificate. The date of registration certificate must be greater than 1 October 2001.

It’s a shame but France is going to kill older vehicles with the rapid expansion of their scheme, unless you stay away from all cities.

Was not planning specifically to hit Paris but it will be rolled out eventually to smaller cities I presume.

Thanks for the Zone app link Steve.

I've just gone through the online application and sent off the required t i n y attachments so they can decide just which category, if any, my van fits in to. We'll see what happens next but since the van can't be described as any of the categories presented I opted for the car description since it's no worse a fit than any of the others. Still got the app to help keep me out of trouble if they bounce the application.

Cheers

Confirmation from the French Crit Air system this morning.

Our van, 2005 Hobby 750 tag axle on 2.8jtd, is category 4. Total cost €4.80.

Mine is year 2000. So does not qualify.
I assume you put it as a truck over 3.5 tonnes?

No I just sent the attachments of as requested but plumped for the car option and left it up to the humanoid who supposedly studies the documents.

In any event I now have the required sticker winging it's way from France. Thanks again for the link to the app.

As I thought

Indication about the classification of motor homes
Motor homes with a total weight up to 3, 5 tons are classified as cars.
Motor homes with a total weight of 3,5 tons or more are classified as trucks.

Put that sticker on your windscreen at your peril. Monsieur Plod may notice the size of a Hobby 750.

This appears to be the way I envisaged it would turn out.

The Hobby, being over the 3.5 limit, is treated as a truck. The main thing that stands out for me is the fact that any fines applied to that category are approximately double those applied to the 'car' category.:scared:

Just have to be responsible driver then ...

Me not quite understand this....does it mean you don't need a sticker before or after 2001 ? Ours is a Boxer 07... does it need a sticker for the relevant areas..... Maja

Hiya Maja.

I think the link posted earlier Who will get which Crit'Air Colours? – Crit-Air.fr is about as concise as it is ever likely to be.

The application process isn't so difficult and once you've read a bit from the French website it'll all be as clear as crystal.:pc: Not.

The link for the app is pretty good as well.

In answer you your question I would say there is no requirement for a sticker pre 2001, but don't dream of going into the zones unless you want to give Plod a bonus that is.
