cracks in bathroom floor

Has anyone had problems with their bathroom floor cracking?
We have a Hobby 55 ES, which we bought 18 months ago and we have done 23,000 miles in that time. Fortunately it is still under warranty.
We bought it from Morans in Ludlow who seem to be happy to do any repairs that Hobby will pay for, but only replace faulty parts (locks, flaps) with like for like. They don't seem to be prepared to think outside the box, so we have had to put magnets on the flaps ourselves (we met an owner in Germany who had the same problem) as they wouldn't stay shut and flapped around on motorways.
Needless to say we are not filled with confidence regarding the cracks in the bathroom floor. They say they can fix it, but are unable to reassure us as to how they will fix it.
I have looked at some forums and it seems quite a common fault which crops up as the floors are not adequately strengthened in the first place.
Any thoughts on the subject would be welcome - it seems these days you have to be fore-armed before you get work done.
 
The same thing happened to my Elddis, which was well lout of warranty. The dealer said that they would glue it, which filled me with confidence....NOT. I purchased a fiberglass one from ebay by measuring, getting the nearest size I could find, then adapting it with part of the old tray and silicon sealant. looks OK and will not crack!
 
I had the same problem on my Hymer, I bought a kit from Ebay but my van was well out of warranty, I would not accept a repair of the tray but insist it is replaced if it was in warranty, unless the floor beneath it is strengthened it will reappear
 
Are you talking about a ceramic floor, or the shower tray?

If the shower tray, then yes, I have a short vertical crack in one corner, plus cracking around the drain hole because the tray isn't supported for a couple of inches out from the plug and if you tread on that part of the tray, it puts a lot of force on the tray material.

Yes, its the shower tray. First cracks appeared where you walk into the tray as you say. We may have to insist on a new one, as it seems to be all one piece right up to the cupboards and surrounding the cassette - great fun!
 
We had the same on our hymer, it was on the edge of the trough where the door ran, we tried all sorts of solutions, we ended up using glass matting with a resin that matched the existing colour.

In your case don't accept a repair ask for it replacing and ask them to make sure there is adequate support. My understanding of the law is that for that part once replaced the warranty starts from the beginning again so if you had a year and the tray is replaced at 11 months the tray is under warranty for a year could be wrong

There's a company on the same ind est as morans in ludlow that makes and repairs shower trays for motorhomes and caravans i don't know if thats the route they will take in your case but you could always ask
 
We had the same problem, as it was still under Marquis' Motorhomes 3 year warranty (although second hand) they fitted and replaced
the whole unit at no charge.

Your guarantee whether it be 1 year or 3 is just that. If it breaks at 9 months then it is replaced or repaired but your guarantee still runs out at 1 year or 3. We meet a guy on holiday the other year who had a new circuit board fitted in his fridge under guarantee the repair lasted until it was out of guarantee and he was faced with replacing the fridge as the circuit board was evidently only part of the problem. The manufacturer was not interested as it was out of guarantee.
 
A guarantee or warranty is just that, it is a guarantee it will not fail in one year, it isn't the law so why would a Manufacturer be interested if you have problems, he is not responsible, he is not liable for any repairs, you have to take the Seller to task not the Manufacturer, the Sale of Goods Act covers you for up to six years in the UK and five years in Scotland but it is the Company you bought it from not the Manufacture who is liable, I had a fridge repaired twice under warranty, when it failed again 4 years later I took Brownhills to Court under the SOGA, before it went to the final process of the Court hearing I had a brand new fridge fitted by Brownhills, would I have won?, I don't know but they had more to lose than me
 
Reason it cracks is because the waste fitting is hanging off the floor membrane so treading on the waste puts all your weight to stretching and breaking the membrane.

My fix involved putting packing under the waste fitting to fill the gap between the bottom of the waste and the heavy steel inspection plate screwed to the underside of the floor so now any force is transmitted through to the inspection plate and there is no force on the membrane

Thanks folks for all your advice. We are heading up there tomorrow, so fingers crossed they sort it.
 
Got our shower tray done by Stuart he took old shower tray out and made a new stronger mold from the old tray
so its identical to the original one then he re fitted the new shower tray . It has not been repaired or painted it is a genuine new shower tray. He also does all other interior work, well pleased looks like new, would recommend very reasonable prices.
