Cornwall: the rush has started!

With all that said, I got an even bigger surprise when I phoned up a campsite that we used last year for the first outing of the season (i.e. to make sure that everything's as it should be before venturing too far from home) and to meet up with fellow musos for a few days jamming. It's a small site that I expected to find completely booked up. However, they said we could pretty much get our choice of dates and we've booked a week where, unless the situation changes, we'll be the only unit onsite!

Thats great Geoff I hope you all have a great time, I am sure you won’t ever forget this visit, and we all need something to now look forward to more than ever before.
 
Regarding capacity and being able to get a pitch, there could be many reasons affecting availability,

Maybe a lot of people will be returning to work for the first time this year as more places open up and just can't take the time off?
Or their priority will be visiting family and friends first rather than thinking about a holiday?

Also, there will be a fair number of people who have lost jobs etc,. or changed career as a result of the pandemic, so maybe not in a position to have holiday breaks, either for financial or work reasons?

There's also a lot of people, like some members on here, who will be proceeding very cautiously at first.
I know a lot of people who won't be doing a great deal until they've had both jabs, for example.

PS - forgot to say that cost may well play a part - prices seem to have shot up all over and not everybody has loads of spare dosh.

You are quite right, and I don’t think anyone should let their guard down any time soon, this pandemic is going to be around for a long time yet.
And the jabs aren’t 100% safe

I made it to Cornwall to see my son this afternoon. The campsite is fairly empty. The M5 and A30 were packed with motorhomes. Absolutely wonderful to be in the moho again.

I drove from Yorkshire to Kent and apart from a couple of diversions from M1 to A1 and back again due to road work closures I only saw a couple of campervans so we are having a great mini meet down here in Kent and the sun even came out for us.

We went out yesterday up to Berwick and then onto Seahouses there were loads of Motorhomes and campervans out and about and in Bamburgh going into Seahouses you couldn’t find a parking space anywhere it was absolutely packed (we were in the car)
