Hi
So many Concords and Morello vehicles in Spain.
Although they are beautiful, I cannot understand why people would want them!!
So expensive and so huge and then they park on rough ground or car parks and sit in deck chairs!!!
I know if money is no object then why not, but I would find them a real handicap as you must need to plan routes so meticulously.
Can someone enlighten me as to why people buy these behemoths?
Regards

Noticed both last year and this that the French seem to have bought them by the shedload. Je ne sais quoi!

Loved ours ,concorde 940 full underfloor heating , -20 odd in norway in north end of november snug as a bug, MAN coach chassis full exhaust brake 17 mpg 6.9 ltr automatic room for a motorcycle or quad, lived in it full time for 4 years
Sometimes too many electronics but sat 11 for drinks one new years eve 🍺🍻

I would love a motorhome that size if I could afford the fuel to move it and run it and the roads were bigger and better :)

But .... from what I saw of the Concordes and Morellos when visiting the NEC Shows, I would not get either as they just look tacky to me (sorry if that offends owners of them). The equivalent N&B Motorhomes are (IMO) way more stylish.

Given the option of Concord MH or Hotel, it would be the Concord, I'm not a fan of hotels, luxury or otherwise.
Likewise ....

BUT then "if folks need such luxury" why not a tent ....

Or why not a tarpaulin/Basher ....

People make personal choices on what they want to do in all walks of life ...

Some folks would be happy with a Skoda

Others only £200,000 of range rover would do .

All horses for courses and as long as no ones getting hurt ....then I'm happy to let folks get on with doing what makes them happy .

We attended the Spa GP a few years ago, nearest official aire was in Malmedy on the old railway station yard, not attractive and everyone crammed in due to the GP. There was a huge amazing looking Concorde next door to us, the owners were sitting out in deck chairs in this pretty naff location so I assumed they were there for the GP like us. I got talking to them and they weren't aware of the GP and this was just what they choose to do with their time and money. It seemed strange to me BUT as Iceman says, each to their own, if we were all the same it would be a funny old world wouldn't it but I'm sure being the biggest fish in a small pond has a lot to do with it . 😉

We're still on the Aire at Vilafranca del Penedes, where you have the services at the entrance, and then select from about 20 pitches at the bottom of the Carpark. The exit is through the Carpark and out of the gate at the top. Now, some Motorhomers don't accept that 20 pitches = 20 M/homes, and drive through into the main Carpark to pitch, taking a minimum of 2 car spaces. Car drivers get a little annoyed, so park at the end of the row, reducing the exit lane width by about 40% ...

A Norwegian couple arrived just after 5pm, in a Hymer behemoth, to discover that there were no spaces, so they drove into the main Carpark, following the Exit signs. Then they encountered the cars parked on the end of the row and became jammed because there is a lh bend 30m before the exit and the 'end of row' cars parked, plus the tree that provides shaded parking left him nowhere to go. The fact that his coach mirrors protruded so far didn't help, not did the fact that he didn't trust the gap that his mirrors displayed! Took 3 of us and a 38 point shunt back and forth to the smell of clutch lining to edge him out eventually ... Glad of our 5.99m Brunhilde!

The irony is that, when we returned to the defined Aire after a quick visit to Mercadona, some 25 minutes later, a pitch had become vacant ...

Yes, same here, and I'd rather be in my van than a Concord, most of the time at least. :ROFLMAO:

As already said. Each to their own.

If you want to see some real beasts go to the Allrad show.

I’m looking for a new van, could actually afford a Morello but can’t see the point.

My current van Auto-Sleeper Burford Duo does everything I need apart from 4 wheel drive. And tbh I only really need 4 wheel drive to get off the grass/mud at race circuits (Merl Malmedy is NOT the place to stay for Spa, there’s a better place with free EHU and parking much closer to Eau Rouge)

With a Morello I’d just not want to drive country lanes, or chuck it up the bank at Snetterton.

But the biggest issue is I like to sit in a single bed with a mug of tea and read, so far I’ve not found anything better for that than the Burford-Duo

A huge Concord (?), based on a Merc Lorry Chassis arrived on the Moncofa Aire 2 weeks ago and couldn't fit into any of the Pitches - ended up parked lengthways, partially blocking the shared Entrance/Exit. It was probably over 4m high and 9m+ long, and looked like a Pickford's Removal Lorry, but without the colour of the corporate body.

It couldn't get fully onto the twin lane Services and blocked access to the second lane for the 15 minutes or so it took to empty the tanks and refill the freshwater. The M/home was occupied by just 2 adults ...

The view out of the window is the same, or maybe worse in a Concord as you're struggling to park it.

I'd rather be driving a VW Transporter sized van, and 'living' in a Concord, unfortunatly even with the biggest slideouts could never get the living area that big.

I’d have one in a heartbeat in fact I’d have one of them Giant American behemoths marble floors marble worktops 2 toilets one with a jacuzzi bath a dishwasher washing machine two 50inch tellys the biggest built in generator I could get to annoy the peasants now come on 2 toilets that’s got to be worth the 8 mile to a gallon O and a big Range Rover stuck to the back. Yous better hope I don’t come into money. 😎

Don’t think parking it would be an issue, but parking it somewhere you want to be might.
Had a moderately heated discussion with a Dutch couple last year with a huge Concord plus double axle trailer with a Porsche TOAD at Benicarlo Aire ... When I refused to move our 5.99m M/home ('because you're blocking our view of the sea, and you're not a proper camper anyway!'), I explained that this is not how Aires worked. It is first come, first served, and, because he was parked on the street, being too long to get on the Aire, he was breaching the local prohibition on street parking for M/homes ... :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if you know this guy? Met him down in Henley at Swiss Farm but he is from Glasgow

This is as large a 'Motor Caravan' as you are allowed in the UK - 40 foot maximum length
