Hi Sammy,

This may sound daft but you have checked that the leisure battery is there and connected properly, That the charger is turned on and that it is fully charged. ie output over 12 v

Hi sammy and welcome to the forum,

If you bought from a dealer, they should have given you a comprehensive run through of the various parts of the van. if they have not then get on to them.

The Elddis/Compass handbooks have always been crap and you will probably not learn much from it. You did not say what year it was as the setups change on different models and different years.

When you are driving, the 12 volt power is cut off to the lights etc. Your fridge (when set to 12 volt operation) should work and your leisure battery is being charged. To check the leisure battery, put a multimeter across the terminals to check the voltage with the engine off. Start up and recheck the voltage. It should have gone up to 13.5 - 14 volts.

If you switch on some lights and then switch on the ignition, your lights should go out.

On my Elddis (same as Compass), the small switch marked veh/aux, was just to show you the voltage level. Again, without knowing how old yours is, I am just guessing.

There is also a main on / off switch on my Eldis, situated in door well of van on the side of my fridge/sink unit.
