Our roof apertures are too small for a roof mounted aircon system, and I'm a bit reluctant to sacrifice the cupboard space for an under-bench unit. But we do need something.

I just came across this.

Do any of you clever people who know about these things have any thoughts please?

They seem to need mains power which is restrictive, if you always use sites or have an alternative supply (generator etc) then they seem a reasonable bet.

There are other stand alone options which cost less, but they take up space in the van which is also restrictive.

Personally I’ve decided against aircon as it doesn’t represent a reasonable advantage for the money, but I guess if I were to go to southern Europe I’d buy a self contained unit with induction/extraction venting.

Bit more info here on price and fitting;

Quite expensive but I think most air con systems are. If I was considering something like this, I would probably value an opinion from @mistericeman.

@Boris7 if we needed to use it, we would make a point of finding somewhere with electricity. That's getting easier in France with the expansion of the camping car park network .

@Robmac, it is pricey, but the convenience of not having to lose locker space is attractive. Thanks for tagging mistericeman.
