Comet london tap leaking - going mad

Hi all, so I converted a vivaro about three years ago and for my sink I used a single cold water comet london tap paired with a whale 12v pump. Initially I didn't notice any leaking but last year on my bi annual camerpvan trip in the summer I noticed it was leaking and not just a drip drip either but a proper flowing leak where the tap connects to the water pipe. So when I returned home I tried adding a jubilee clip around the water pipe when it connects to the tap but this didn't work. Next I tried buying a new comet tap (only £20) so I thought I'd give it a go and the exact same thing happens even with a new unit.

Am I doing something wrong?

Are these taps even fit for purpose?

Anyone else had problems/ experience with these taps?
