Coffee Machines

Small tassimo in the van and at home morning cafe or americano and an inverter get the pods on offer about 18 to 21 pence per cup but goooood taste love a bargain so no need to compromise at this cost and no cafatier to clean

Those Americano's are just sooooo tasty aren't they, its really the only one I drink from it, Caz has all sorts of flavoured Lates but doesn't appeal to me

Answering the specific question (rather than suggesting alternative drinks) if the only reason you would get an inverter is for a 240V coffee machine, then probably a very pricey cup of coffee as you will need a fairly hefty inverter as I think these coffee machines are a high wattage?
So yup, overkill :)

I don't know much about those machines as on the occassions I drink coffee I actually PREFER Instant Granules over Filter!

No Dave I wouldn't only get an inverter for a Tassimo, I don't want to take the one I have its too big and it is one of the smaller ones. I am not spending £100 on a 1 shot 12v Nespresso thing I have seen that looks a right faff either. I was wondering if anyone had come across a tidy 12v model that was reasonably priced.

I usually prefer instant nowadays and only now and then does ground coffee taste better to me than instant, an example is Nescafe Cap Columbi is wonderful with two spoons of whitener in it :)

The Americans though as my second drink of the day, may be a bit costly compared to some other home methods but not that much, its quick, no mess a all (unless my hand shakes putting the whitener in) and what a taste. Saying that Caz and most other dont like it, they prefer a Late haha My taste buds did something funny over the winter hence why I now cant stand milk in tea and stopped sugar in any hot drink EXCEPT one spoon in my Americano :)

Yes all interesting what suits one etc may give an aero type a go also
Posted this before try the beer from aldi called spill the beans coffee flavor tastes far better than you would think 99 p a bottle
Go on give it a try

I dont touch alcohol any more, doesn't agree with my meds so after a good few chronic hangovers I gave up years ago. Dont miss it at all now though, may have a small glass of sherry new years eve or if I get a bad cold I will have whisky in hot toddies but thats about it. Last drink I had was nocking on two years ago, really fancied an IPA so cracked it open and managed about 1/4 of a pint that I really enjoyed then lost the taste for it

Being retired is great but getting older is not hence I understand the Meds quite moderate with everything now falling over whilst anebriated takes some getting over these days . lol

I am not a coffee snob Marie and would never spend the sort of money some of these things go for, got my Bosch Tassimo thing in an Amazon sale for under £50, as Americans doesn't need a whitener capsule I get 18 cups out of a pack and I always go for cheaper multi pack offers or pound shop when they have them. Last 2 boxes I think were Lidl or Aldi (still Costa branded) and were under £3 and its a seriously good brew to my taste.

I always used to use a cafetière and we have one in mh now we are using just not found the same taste for the morning hit even using the Costa ground.

If anyone knows a ground or whole beans that makes a mug tasting like the Costa Americano or something like Cap Columbi (is that how its spelt, the Nescafe powder one?) for a stove top or cafetière then that will do me instead. Its the flavour I am after more than the machine but not found it yet

As an Americano is a shot of espresso (or maybe 2) with added water then trying some espresso blends might be a good place to start. I like 'Sussex Barn' from edgcumbes at Ford in West Sussex - great to wake up to.
