Hi everyone,

I require some help please, I have downloaded C0-Pilot to my I_pad and everything appears fine. I tried to use it for the first time and it produced a route and then nothing, no voice guidance, no GPS. Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else experienced this. Is there a fix I do not understand why it is not functioning.

Thanks in anticipation.

Not used it in years so just suggestion here but does the software itself have a mute/volume option as well as the ipad having a volume. My iGO software does.

Apologies if it's teaching grandma to suck eggs but obvious things first, have you checked for the latest updates for the app, have you got gps on the ipad and is it switched on?

,have you got gps on the ipad and is it switched on?

Ah. Does ipad have the location settings like Android? As that could be set to work on wifi only so you would need to switch GPS on and off manually. Or change the settings.

I had a similar problem with my iPad air2 and it was that it doesn't have gps. I needed to get a GPS receiver Garmin Glo and problem went away. Check you user manual/paperwork to see if it has gps

Thank you for all of your replays I will test today I think it has gps but iwill check.
Regards

3G/LTE Ipads should have GPS. Mine doesn't so I bought a GNS 2000 from Amazon .. Cheaper than the Garmin and does the same job. It's also approved for use by Apple and is plug and play. Just turn on Bluetooth and put the unit where it can see the sky.

CoPilot should give you a RED Blob at your location. If you don't have one then you don't have a fix. Most GPS's don't work inside as they need to see the sky to pick up the faint signals. This is where the separate unit comes in as you can put it near a window.

I downloaded CoPilot from the Internet. Got it working on my Samsung ( Android ) and then installed it on my IPad. Works really well but does not work very well on my Blaupunkt as it clips the start of the sentences.

I have always been an advocate of Copilot but there has been an update recently which has changed the user interface quite radically.I'm not keen on it and liked the original version better. It was more user friendly and intuitive to use.

I have just purchased the tomtom go mobile app and so far have been impressed,it's quite easy to use, gets a gps fix quickly also planning and saving a route is a doddle.I'm pleased with it and it has now taken over as my no.1 satnav.

Navfree is a cracking free sat nav what i think is very much like CoPilot. Another is Mapfactors navigator what maps get updated quite regular. All maps are free Only downside i see is lack of junction view and cant put in dimensions.

co pilot

I have had Co Pilot on iPad for a few years. On my first pad it seemed great for a while much better than my partners map reading but eventually as updates for the kit come down it started to play up. You may find this hard to believe but while driving the damn thing would change to a womens voice from the mans which was in the settings and carried on giving wrong instructions the map would start spinning the voice breaking up. On top of that the nagging from partner saying what a waste of money. Pressure or what ?. Now have new iPad and go on my own Bliss !

I got so fed up with CoPilot here in Spain that I too am using Tom Tom Mobile. CoPilot mapping here is simply awful. Tom Tom isn't without errors but it's definitely much better.

A word of warning about TomTom. If you power off the tablet without closing the app file corruption can occur. This causes the app to hang whilst loading. The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall. This loses your settings and you have to download the maps again.

Poor software design I'm afraid.

I used co pilot a lot until their recent update. It's terrible and won't accept poi's either in its original form. I emailed them the problem and they came up with a way round it until another up date was planned to fix the problem, they said. I've gone back to my snooper even though I can't add po I's to that.
Co pilot used to take us around the block unesseccessarily as well.

Thanks for all your help my iPad did not have gps have now purchased garmain glo it is now working ok. Cheers Mal
