Quite a difference from our usual uk garage experiences. We’re sat in the van over a pit on a terrace with views over beautiful countryside, where we can also stay tonight. The family team have been going hammer and tongs underneath for the last 2-3 hours, they’ve already had the thing stripped, refitted and gearbox back on, now just reconnecting everything. Meanwhile they’ve regassed the air-con for me. Compare with a 3 hour job at Fiat garage in uk who wanted the van for two days, and still were late finishing...and cost an arm and a leg...and who never show the parts they have replaced.

Have to say Nationwide Breakdown assistance were very helpful and efficient...and took a lot of persuading we really didn’t want a hire car or hotel!

Uk dealers at £85 per hour plus vat (£100) which is conservative plus parts £1000 is easily achieved so our man has a bargain

AND a working van....

I once had to pay double what I would have normally paid for a steering ball joint last thing on a Saturday afternoon...

I considered it a bargain as it got me out of a hole.... Sometimes expensive isn't that bad when, you look at the big picture.

We have liftoff

All done and dusted, feet up, admiring the view from our terrace, looking forward to our wine from the local vineyard...well we had to get rid of our remaining Kunas somewhere. If anyone ever conks out in Istria I can certainly recommend Autoservis Nevio at Kikuna. We now have a thunderstorm...thankfully as it’s been ruddy hot today!
