Doesn't apply to me, but I came across this link on a facebook page and thought it might be useful to some of you.

"From". I love that word in advertisements, it goes with the words on the sides of buses "up to every ten minutes".

The cost of having and maintaining an HGV licence is crazy, not sure if I'll renew next time around as the CPC cost alone makes it out of reach for many. No surprise there such a shortfall in available drivers. The company I work for paid it all last time but won't the next time,i know several drivers that will leave when it all comes up for renewal.
The gov. really need to do something or the situation will escalate.

I have had to do my ADR Hazchem Licence just for carrying cement, cost me £650 but got 3 cpc days included The HSE for transport has gone crazy and more and more drivers will be lost , when will these idiots wake up?

I'm sure they'll wake up when the country comes to a standstill,on the plus side I see so many drivers wanted, and regularly get approached by customers asking if I'd like a job with them. If you're after a pay increase then it's a good time to ask as companies become desperate to hang on to staff.
When did concrete become a hazardous chemical? Do construction workers need a certificate to work with it? Certainly didn't when I worked in that industry.

Surely you don't need CPC for driving a motorhome exclusively for leisure purposes?

Cement has a very high lime contents therefore when carrying a large qty it become a class 8 hazardous material ( Corrosive ). When construction workers are handling any type of cement they have to ware all the relevant safety equipment

I gave up driving HGV class 1 or as it's now called LGV when the useless (can't fail) CPC came in 2014.
I would have to pay for a medical, pay for the licence renewal, pay for the week at school for the CPC then pay to renew my digi card, it's never ending.
All to go back to work in a high stress and pressurised job with such horrendously antisocial hours and not great pay rates for the responsibility expected. No thankyou.

I use Dr on wheels for my medical, The last 2 years it's been £51.

That's who John used in August. Simple and straight forward. They have correct forms as well.
