Anyone out there know how much to repair 5th gear on a Citroen Relay 2.2hdi year 2004, jumps out of gear under power, i believe a kit to repair this is available, supposed to be quite a easy task to repair,,John

Not heard of one.

If it means taking the box out? it's not a small job and then you would be better off taking it to a gearbox specialist.

Renault used to have a problem jumping out of 5th gear and we used to over fill the gear box and this cured it until it lost some oil and needed doing again.
All the best.

No i don't think the box needs come out, i appears the 5th gear on this model is an add on to the original 4speed box, a plate at the nearside behind the front wheel comes if and the plate is there, held with about 7/8 studs, i have located the plate but will not tackle it until i get the kit, any one else out there heard of this setup on this model,,,John

Hi John.

have you looked at Fiat Gearbox problems

Hi John.

have you looked at Fiat Gearbox problems
Thanks for the link Polar Bear, i have seen these diagrams on the Fiat Forum, but the only ones that seem to have problems are on the 2006-models,which may be a different box, one solution that i have heard of is to add more oil to the gearbox level, A Fiat mechanic reckons that the oil levels have not been increased to allow for the extra gear when they added the fifth gear to this particular box, therefore the 5th gear may not have been getting the proper lubrication, i have done approx 200 miles(in 4th gear) since the problem started and i also hope i have not done anymore damage to the rest of the box,,,John

It does sound like the Renault problem I mentioned before. Maybe too late now though?
