Be nice Celebrate New Year in the van. Any personal recommendations fellow campers

Wild camping new year meet in congleton Cheshire, details posted in meets section shortly, dates from 29dec -2jan. Andy

Well for me, its starting to Head North beginning of November, meeting up with a few mates of mine in the Boating world Up & across the country before I find a nice quiet spot for a day or two from say xmas day to new years day 'Hopefully' in either Lewis or Shetland & probably by myself this time to reflect on the last Cpl of years And take that opportunity to make a plan for the next few years. So its a bit of a 'Life Plan' Xmas for me. Then meeting up with a few mates in early Jan & looking fwd to what 2017 brings.

I am happy to arrange a meet in New Zealand, we could do the Wildcamping Haka led by our very own Camperfanny chanting:

"Voddy voddy vodka, drinky drinky wooz, gargle gargle gargle, humpty humpty bulla balloo - yaaargghhyy yaaaaaaaaaaah."

Or something like that.:scared:

Not a recommendation and not a definite but we are toying with the idea of hitting tarifa in Spain. Anybody been there over the Xmas and new year?

That's easy - I just go fishing. :)

I can't stand all that festive nonsense. :mad1:

Bah humbug . . .

Hi Tezza,

We'll be about 400kms east of there in Bolnuevo. The Costa Calida beckons again

I'm off to Applecross for a week starting New Years eve.

I'm taking the van, but we're renting a house for the week with kids, grandkids and dogs tagging along. Nine of us in all and 2 dogs. Once we've finished our week there, who knows where we will end up!

It's a lovely place, and just a few minutes walk from the Applecross Inn, which I rather like!

Is it any good there? ....stupid question really as if it wasn't you wouldn't be going lol .

Hi Tezza,

Well, it wouldn't suit everyone, especially the WC purists but each to their own. It's a campsite with the best facilities we've found anywhere in Europe and not expensive for long term stays. Small village with a few shops/bars/tavernas and a nice mix of folk on the site. Ten minute bus ride to a couple of larger towns and a good climate, last winter it rained on about 4 or 5 nights and only on two days. We've joined a couple of walking groups so we get up to the Sierra Espuna every week and there are some good coastal walks too. The site is right on the beach so there's swimming and fishing as well. We never get bored!

Thank you for the info. I will check it out when I get back. Sounds great.

Just had a look on google earth ( couldn't wait until I got hotel lol) the camp site is to the north of the village? How much a night is it if you don't mind me asking?

We have spent several Xmas and New Years in the van. We have cooked our own, got takeaways, clubbed up with others all sharing the cooking and drinks. Wiil be in Portugal this year with mates and I am sure we will think of something good.

With the bono system you pay 400/500 euros in advance and it works out at 12.75 euros per day which includes 7kw of electricity per 24 hours. Any unused monies paid are not refunded but can be carried forward for up to 2 years,(or maybe 3 years, I'm not too sure.) Last year we had 2 free "sardine days", all you can eat and drink, a similar Paella day, couple of free concerts and a large Christmas hamper.

Christmas week

Just wondering if there are any meets coming up for Christmas in Scotland over the Christmas week. I do plan to go somewhere in the van but would be much nicer if there was people like myself who would want to get together. It's just me and the three yorkies as family is all back in Canada and United States, all,y friends have families and they think camping if only for the summer months, lol....could be either wild camping out otherwise.

I think there's a new year meet that's been talked about on one of the boards,,,Have a rummage,,,But I will love to bump into anyone that's around over the Whole of December & January in Scotland & Her Islands..
Let me know If, When & Where you're around, & I will bring the Dog Treats lol lol.
