Not bad for a first attempt at a panoramic photo :)

We arrived about 5.30 one evening, asked the guy in the booth what time we had to be gone by and he said that's quite a difficult one to answer , so we spent a nice peaceful night there with several other motorhomes.

He gave us a cheery wave from his booth as we drove off about 10ish the following morning.

We had a wander along the top in June . It was certainly hard work . The coastal path was a bit easier . Thought the car park was a bit expensive as all you can buy is a day ticket and there is not a lot there when it's raining :giggle:

I think it was £3.50 before 5pm and £2.50 after that ... free after the man shuts up shop at 6pm. No-one appears to go round checking you have a ticket, if you arrived after he shut at night he didn't come round to sell/check in the morning. There are no signs anywhere about penalties etc ... just a laminated A4 printed sheet stuck to the inside of his booth flap saying no overnight sleeping.

I would recommend arriving just after 6pm, go for a nice walk along the coast path back towards the village, up into the village, into the pub and then wander back through village and down past tropical gardens back to car park.

It's also a nice walk along the little road alongside the beach going the opposite way, in effect carrying on past car park.

Worth going up the hill to the chapel too, the view is amazing .... attempted a panoramic view of that too ... but decided perhaps best not to publish that one :rolleyes2:

Ha ha, just realised looking again at the photo that it doesn't show how steep it is either :D

I'm glad to hear this isn't a no go area again, it is a favourite spot of mine, but got taken off the POI because of restrictions.:dog::dog:

We have stayed on this car park a few times its a great place to park £3.50 is not a lot of money when your staying all night and filled water my water tank from the sink in the toilet what more could you want

Not sure if is the same carpark or not that I stayed in a few years back,
It's next to the entrance of the Tropical gardens & has public toilets there , near/ in Bridport perhaps ?

Anyway that was the first time we had ever wild camped , we parked there in a Transit pannel van but there were a few other motor homes there too, all was well until the middle of the night when we were woken by some boy racers skidding about etc , it went on for what seemed like ages ( probably was not that long really ) We had no widows to look out of & to be honest we felt pretty scared because they seemed so close ( like I said we had no windows to look out of either )

When we looked in the morning the skid marks ( no pun intended lol ) went right upto our van with much less than a foot left before they would have hit us , probably not there real plan i'm sure but the experence put me off wild camping to tell you the truth.

Glad others have had better times there than me

Oh & great job with the photo by the way, I spend lots of time near Chesil Beach ( kitsurfing in Portland Harbour ) & love it down there
