Check your alloy wheels

Any service worth calling such should always include removal of the wheels.

It is the only way to examine thoroughly the state of wheels, tyres, brakes and suspension.
When i bought my new to me proton with 27 th on clock and book service history all stamped up i soon found out it was never serviced, back wheel brg went t-ts up ,misfire due to plugs never changes and a gap you could have sailed a ship through, fitted new coil w/bearing and did full service, now she goes like the wind.

Never go hammering and thumping alloy wheels. Use a pry bar to lever the wheels off. It won’t damage the wheel.

I didn't know that Skoda made Proton cars.

I'm afraid that I wouldn't consider changing a wheel on the roadside - ring the breakdown, put the kettle on a wait.

Could be sitting a long time here,or blocking a road to which a nasty crowd will ither bend your nose or push you into the ditch, some times police will get a t/truck and remove you at a cost of over £500 which you pay.

It would still be nice if the wheels came straight off for the breakdown people
If you keep a tight eye on things then there should be little trouble,i have always said along with others here, when to old to change wheels or keep things running its time to hand in the reins.
We took the car of wifes dad and sold it as he is to old & slow to be driving, we had to be fore he killed someone.

I have had many discussion with main dealers that do not remove wheels on service.they say they can examin brakes without removing wheels .so often the first time they are removed is for tyres .????? I dare not say the method's I have used to remove wheels .

Not a good idea to change a motorhome wheel on the roadside yourself using the supplied tools . especially on a smart motorway .

Another way I seen used to free a seized on wheel is too loosen all the wheel bolts before jacking up at all, and then rock the vehicle sideways as hard as you and everyone with you can!.Therefore using the weight of the vehicle to help free it.
I use a rich in aluminium spray grease on alloy fittings. (when I can find the can :))
