hi folks
new member here , just bought a chausson acapulco 58 which needs a new panel or panel section ,after the previous owner pranged the top on a tree .
the damage is to the panel which runs alongside the sleeping area over the cab.
how could this be repaired or replaced . new to campers after owning a boat for a number of years .

On the assumption the metal isn't broken and letting water ingress, you have multiple choices, leave it, fill it or even obtain a piece of new aluminum sheet that covers the damage. It is was/is a fibreglass/plastic side, then any decent garage may be able to fill and make good for you.

I cannot see panel replacement being a cheap job. I would think it would be labour intensive and obtaining the panel work difficult.

But I am not an expert.

Welcome to the site anyway and I hope you get plenty of enjoyment out of her.

This might be helpful but probably not cheap.

There are 2 companies that specialise in caravan repairs butshould be ok if it is plastic as opposed to alu sandwich.

V & G caravans - Peterborough
The Caravan panel shop - Preston

You do not say what part of the country you are from so try Yellow Pages, you never know. Just by chance there is a good company near me.God forbid I ever need them but I found them in the local phone book.

Welcome to the site. Telstar has given you good advice so do not rush into anything until you have all the options as it can cost an arm and a leg if you get it wrong.

One bit of advice given recently was to fit a ventilator panel over a hole to disguise it. Block the hole up first of course. It depends how big the hole is.

Happy wandering.

thanks for the replies, the panel itself has been peeled like an orange ,with a part missing . had an idea of taking a fibreglass mould of a section and reproducing it to cover the area involved . but joining it up might be a problem .
