Looking at buying a Chausson Allegro 83, on Renault 3 litre, 6 speed manual, 67,000 miles. First registered 31 December 2005.

I understand that the Allegro is the top of the range, with the Welcome in the middle and the Flash the starter.

It has air suspension, which I have no experience of.

We have looked at a lot of newer vans but none have the layout or are as bright and airy as the Allegro. Also the furniture and fittings appear to be more solid.

Anyone own or has owned one of these? Comments welcome.

Also pros and cons of air suspension?

Thank you

This is the air suspension display.

No idea how it works!

Older chaussons generally have a better build quality than new ones..I have no idea on the Renault drive train.
The suspension is air assist which is a good option. That one has a built in pump by the looks so just che k the gauge now and then .we run ours between 1.5 and 2 bar.

There is a Chausson owners group on facebook.

Might be worthwhile posting the question on there.

I'll just add we have a 2013 suite relax Chausson ...under sink door has come loose and the 3 way fridge was giving problems . Sold it and fitted a compressor one. Material has a small rip under seat ....Not bad in 10 years.
Fiat engine has not missed a beat .
