Hiring a motorhome for the first time in July. Could anyone help, as we are planning our route, if the motorhome battery charges while we are driving?

All of the motorhomes I have encountered provide split relay charging. In other words the alternator charges the engine and habitation batteries.

The hirer will take you through all of those sort of details. If they don't, tell them they must. If they don't seem to know what they are talking about, tell them to find someone that does. Take notes when they do and/or make sure the instruction book is there AND you understand it..

Dont forget that if you stay at a site with hook up, this should charge your leisure battery full overnite. If your new to motorhoming, and doing wildcamping, staying at a site every 3 or 4 days will keep you charged up and give you a chance to fill up with water and discharge waste till you know how much you are using of your commoditys. Bon voyage...Bob

that's really helpful. I'm a total newbie and don't know yet how these things will work out so staying at a site every few days seems like a good way to learn the ropes and see what's happening in the van! ta.
