charging lesiure battery on tribute?

Hi All
Hope someone can advise me. Is it ok to trickle charge the lesiure battery via solar panel through the cigarette lighter socket on the control panel on my tribute .The terminals for crocodile clips are in an awkward place.Cant seem to find out on the forums and dont want to fuse anything Many thanks.

would work provided the socket has 12v without the ignition on
if you need the ignition on to work the socket you would be using
more through the ingnition circuit being on the you were inputing from your panel

Are you using the little dinky thing you leave on your dash? Mine came with the plug on already, but if you're using anything bigger you may need a regulator

To do this I wired a ciggy socket (£1.50 from Maplins) on a 1/2 m trailing wire to the battery so it's not switched and I have an extra socket for phone charging etc.. You should be OK with up to a 5W panel - any bigger then you're best to go through a regulator.
