Changing from butane to propane

I've bought a Gaslo propane regulator and pigtail.

However, the fitting on the end of the pigtail is larger than the fitting in the gas locker to which the existing butane pigtail attaches ...

Advice please :)

Thanks ...

An adapter seems a good idea - can someone tell me what/where to get?

Thanks ...

no that only gives the spanner size. but could help someone else guess what size thread you need you need to measure the outside of the thread and count the threads per inch or use a thread gage. its one of those things someone will just look at it and say use|}{+_ . have you tried different things on the thread. that you know the size of .be carefull dont damage the thread. you could take the old pigtail to a hardware shop or even an engineers they will tell you what it is. cheers alan

Having spoken to BES, who were very helpful on their tech support line 0121 322 6406, they advised removing the fitting from the existing butane pigtail and attaching it in place of the fitting on the propane pigtail ...

That seems the easiest option to me too :)

i didnt want to say do that as i assumed it was a factory pressed fitting. i use the o clamps with either one or two ears on you clamp with special pliars or something. better than worm clips i find.sometimes a good hydraulic shop can mix n match for you. bes are great though . very good price on lots of things . they sent me a advet this month with butane reg for 2.69 camping gaz reg 1.95.the best is the propane multi -purpose safety fitting . for 9.35 shuts off in the event of pipe hose failure. and as a gauge. been using them for years. think they are brill. get a cataloge great piece of kit.
cheers alan.

Personally I wouldn't advise any DIY modification to a high pressure pigtail...

It's on the low pressure side - the pigtail is attached to the regulator that's attached directly to the gas bottle ...

think you should have gone to bes and saved a shilling. .bet you kick yourself now.

No problem then! Just cut the pipe, swap the ends over, secure the flexible pipe to the fitting with a jubilee clip, connect up, turn the bas bottle on, test for leaks with soapy water, job done :)
