CCC or motor home and camping club ?

Something that has not been mentioned so far as far as I see is what vehicle you have?

The Caravan and Motorhome Club - assuming they have not changed since when they were called the Caravan Club - do not like unlisted Motorhomes, so when it comes to having a Self-Build PVC they will take your money but will not approve your general use of their sites and you have to keep your fingers crossed that each site manager doesn't have an issue with your camper/motorhome.

I actually seen C&MC wardens go out and inspect vehicles ( self build PVC`s ) to see if they met the criteria twice before they let them into the site.

Once at Chapel Lane, Birmingham and once at Abbey Wood, London.

The Chapel Lane one got in but the Abbey Wood one didn`t despite his protests that he was a member :mad2:

The wardens at Abbey Wood are probably the worst i`ve ever come across in all my years of playing this game :scared:

The only reason we use it because we have to visit family in London and that is by far the easiest site to use and then catch the bus into central London

I agree with the earlier post about CMC insurance. TheY use Devitts who are undoubtedly the worst brokers that I have ever encountered.
Against the general opinion I have found the CMC warders to be less officious than those at the CCC. Overall, much nicer to just wild it or use CL/CS.
The discounts available through both clubs can easily more or less cover the cost of membership.

Go Outdoors give an extra discount if you are a member of one or other of them (not sure if it is both or not?)

Stealth van

My van is a lwb Black Transit double cab in van 2017. It has been altered to my spec in the load area only so there is no external indication that it is a camper van. Earlier in the year, I could not register it on the Caravan and Motorhome Club website as they had only a drop down menu of common brands. However, I noticed this changed recently, and the website now allows you to provide your own custom description. This helps when booking.
I was also concerned that my van may not be welcome at CMC and CCC sites, but I have had no problems this year at about 20 different sites.
I have found the full facility sites to be cheaper than the CL sites with the online discounts.
