our carver 2 water heater works on 240,did work on 12v but now has stopped working on the 12v.green light comes on then the red a few seconds later any ideas what it can be????
 
I've never known a Carver water heater work on 12v. Normally they are gas only or 240volt/gas. On 12v they would drain a battery in no time.
 
Hi, Carver cascade water heaters use 12volts for the sparker to ignite the gas. If the green light is on then the red light comes on a few seconds later it would suggest a problem with the gas supply. If there is a problem with the 12volt supply a yellow light will come on after a few seconds.

Has the van been standing for a while, it could be air in the pipes that needs to be purged, all you can do is give it a minute or two for the gas to come through then try again. Can you hear it sparking when the green light is on? if so it's almost certainly the gas supply. If the water heater is a long way from the gas cylinder and the cylinder is low that also could cause problems. the mains heating element is separate to the 12volt and gas supply and can operate independently or together with the gas for faster heating.
