Had water leaking through the exterior vent so removed it for a look see.
The white plastic thing (pressure release valve possibly ???) top left, appeared to be the culprit so I got a spanner to it.
The blasted thing sheared off at the metal housing.

There was no way of removing the section inside the housing that I could think of.
What to do?
After many expletives I came up with a plan that didn't involve twatting it with a hammer. I cut a 1.5" section off the battery vent pipe and with the help of WD40 I managed to force it into the holes. Then it was a case of applying a liberal amount of silicone sealant and sitting out an anxious 48 hours before firing up the pump.

IT WORKED!!!!, 🍾💥💫🤟

Saved myself over £900 plus paying someone to fit it.

At least you didn't do what I did years ago when I had one of them fail on the old van. Didn't know what it was so just shoved a steel bolt in it to stop it leaking. Worked fine for ages until one Christmas day the hot water tank literally exploded under the dinette seat Michelle was sat on. Water everywhere. Being a DIY genius though I fixed it by bypassing the system and blocking the pipe work I had to cut off with the top off a BIC Biro. It meant cold showers though for a bit. :D

You never fail to amaze us with your pure animal intelligence.

They were all proved wrong, your doubters and detractors.

Give a man a green mankini and you have a useless pillock.

Give him a spanner and a vent pipe and you have a genius.
Izzy must be so impressed!

Izzy was so impressed she yawned twice in the telling. It's possible that 2.5
hours was a bit long to relate the sheer ingenuity of my prowess.
I was so proud of myself I stood in the middle of the village green exhorting the local populace to come and hear my wonderous story.
Unfortunately nobody did.
I wonder if it was because of my green mankini making it appear that I was but a head, 2x arms and 2x legs, my torso may have been camouflaged against the green grass.?

Anyway,it was their loss.

I had the same happen to me I drilled it out with a drill bit that just clear the thread then pick the bits out of the threads, then clean out with a bolt same size file two sides flat that will clean the thread out like new
By the way that is a safety valve if the carver gets to hot there is another valve loaded with wax f that go's you can not bodge it
That why I am fitting a tankless water heater

Me too, I hadn't yet fitted it, but on testing it was doing a good impression of a seive, so I got all the parts off ebay, a gent off Fact gave me a burner, and it still works.

Our first old Autosleeper had an instant hot water boiler fitted on the wall next to the cooker.

It was brilliant.

The (same layout) van we have now (13 years younger!) they (i.e. MEN!) decided to install a hot water tank under the bench seat instead and you have to wait a while until it heats up, and then you only have that one smallish tank of hot water available 🤷‍♀️

Hot water tanks in houses went out with the bloomin' ark as far as I'm aware, so why anyone would think it's a good idea in a small van gawd only knows ...

The instant water heater was a 100% no brainer, imho, and they should have continued to use them. Both are heated by gas. 🤷‍♀️

And this is exactly why there should be more blinkin' women designing campers!!! 😜:ROFLMAO:

If you have to heat a tank with only 10 litres, you effectively can heat it 10 times. If you heat on demand, you have no idea how much you are using, you have men designing for a reason.
