Cars beeping

There are a few that park in passing places. Is this a proper layby, or just one called a layby in an app? We got caught out once and had to move at 11pm! It really looked like a layby and the road was not single track. Taught us a lesson!

Fairly regular in Devon and Cornwall just one of those things at least they're driving past and not stopping. In Torquay on the seafront last year parked near the theatre had an idiot shouting and screaming that we were parked illegally at 4.30 in the morning.

Good morning all,
We are new to motorhoming, a little dream I’ve had since I was a teenager and finally we saved enough to buy a Wentworth, absolutely love it!
We are currently trying our very first wild camping experience by Loch Ness. We are away from the loch and tourist places on a B road off a B road and it’s quiet with hardly any cars. On a lay-by from the app but we have had a couple of cars go past and honk their horn are we doing something wrong?
I’ve read a lot on the forums and I’m not sure it’s for me I feel quite nervous about upsetting people.
Thanks 🙂
This happened to us last night in Wales. We are parked, along with a few other campers, in a layby set quite far back from the road on the A487.

3 or 4 passing cars and lorries beeped, one tried to make a nice little tune, which made a change.

If beeping their horn at me helps them through whatever trauma it is they're going through, then so be it.

We also had someone knock on the window the other night near Bala.

You'll get used to it.

I wouldn't worry about the cars honking.

It's the lunatic in a gimp mask carrying an axe and a bottle of chloroform.

If you do manage to get away, tell the police the axe wielding lunatic is called Boris7, as in post #18.

My WiFi hot spot is Mad Axe Murderer. I assumed it would deter people from parking two feet from my bloody window but it doesn't. I like the idea of the gimp mask though and chloroform. Maybe in addition I could just leave a Gimp mask and at bottle of chloroform on the scooter rack. Could you maybe send me one of your spare masks Ral? Cheers.

You Wi-Fi network name won’t help, what you need is a rear mounted bike rack and then hang a Deer from it. Leave a rifle against the hab door and one slipper outside along with an empty milk bottle.

You’ll have the lay-by to yourself unless Ral is squirrel hunting again.

We got air-horned at 6 in the morning in Norway. Beautiful fjord, huge lay-by, lorry driver obviously felt if he was up and driving, we should be too. Ignore them.

If you’re where I think you are, you have a great view.
