Would be nice to meet up again, we were looking for somewhere to go this weekend, weather permitting. As there would appear to be water both sides, what's the ground like? After having to be towed off twice in Cornwall we are a bit wary after all the rain we have had! Also, nothing in the mag about the price, any idea?

We're not able to make Carringtons this year but have a great weekend.

Hi youy 2 , mcc were there on july 8th and it was boggy some had to be towed off , and they paid £9 pn , weve had some good hot weather of late so i reckon the field should be good now , the weather forcast for the area looks decent , were climbing up the walls so were going with fingers tightly crossed .

We've had drizzle all day today! Looks like we'll give it ago but reserve judgement until Thursday eve when we've seen the weather, but we oh so do like to be beside the seaside, looks a good spot!

A great location, we also had to be towed off during the recent bad weather at the MCC rally.

Got an e mail back from c&cc , carringtons is £10.25 pn , that is too expensive for me so im going to go to wareham rfc instead bcc s&w are there till august 19th nice place , good well drained field , 10mins walk in to wareham with its shops and market saturday and with good walks and birdwatching £7 per night , and on doorstep to loads of places as well . weather forcast says sunshine and light showers .

We're off to Lancing College with the C&CC this weekend. Not been there before.

We were going to wild it at Ferring but have our Daughter and her friend with us so will need to put the tent up too.

Have a good weekend woody - are you coming to our September meet at Greywell? it's free.

We thought £9 was a bit steep so had more or less decided to give it a miss. Thanks for finding out the price! Still haven't got the hang of finding all these places in the magazine & website. Did find one at stow on the wold at £6 per night but we'll keep an eye on the weather, it seems to change by the minute and depends on which channel you watch too!

Millie , cant make too many plans because of hospital apps etc , but im aiming to join southdawns da at seaford on the 18th .

Seaford is a temp hol site so you dont pay till you leave so if weather turns bad then its a case of pay and go , thats what ill be doing this weekend at wareham , so far weve got sun and showers so ill risk it .

Great venue Millie, you can use the pool in the college at some times, make sure you visit the Chapel in the grounds, Nelson Mandela has a stained glass window in there, walk or cycle the river bank too, also visit Shoreham Airfield, sit alongside the runway and watch the light Aircraft and Microlights take off and land right next to your table as you eat your Ham Egg and Chips, Have Fun.

We're just back from the meet at Stow.
Nice walk (30 mins) from site through stables / farm / country lane into Stow. Don't use the main road, we did on the way back......very dangerous.
Had two days there, used it to wind down from having the grandkids on the boating section rally at Linch Hill. We all loved it there, kids had a great time on the water and in the lake.

regards
Allen

Caringtons Shambra 014.jpgCarringtons is a great venue but it is expensive, lots to do there, walk to Hurst Castle and get a boat back, walk or Cycle the Sea front to Lymington, go Sea Fishing or take a Crab line, we usually have a Crabbing competition for the kids but the Adults usually take over LOL one year we had to let all the Crabs go, over 600, so the Competition could carry on as we ran out of Crabs to catch, they don't allow any flag or banner flying there as it is a Council rule ?? the town nearby ,Milford on Sea , has a great Chippy if you want to indulge and lots of interesting shops, there is another Rally there 4 nights 5 days on Sept.13th to 17th and the fee is £9 per night then, it is with Southern and Wessex Section of the BCC ,all CCC members welcome, we are having a bring and buy sale on site too, so if you want to get rid of any items why not bring them along and make a few bob? a small donation to the Section Charity would be appreciated [ Local Hospice ] Stewards are Mike and Jan 01202 695872 SO41 OUQ post code for site.

Thanks for that info vindiboy - might have to go a bit earlier now as there seems plenty to do.

Is there a cafe or pub by the airfield or did you have ham, egg and chips in your van? :egg:

Didn't know you could do that we always pay when we arrive. Will keep our fingers crossed for you, it's a fair bit further for us so the jury is still out, but looking at the forecast its looking better here than there!

How's this for a rip off then. During the recent bad weather down south we had to be towed off Carringtons field by the site owners so we went onto Rockley Sands where we were offered a pitch for two nights for £84. I told the guy we weren't interested in paying silly money no matter how bad the weather was and moved on.

Hi, There is a Cafe in the Airfield, good cheap food available, you can also park your van about 400 yds from the entrance to the Airfield on the large grass area to watch the planes and Helicopters too, or you can walk or cycle there easily from the site.
