Carpet spray glue

I have some carpet lining to do in a couple of places in the van which I'm not looking forward to.

My question is, when handling large bits of carpet covered in spray glue, inevitably it is going to get everywhere where I don't want it to so, is it easy to clean off and any suggestions as to what to use to clean up?

White spirit Rob, but don't spray too much, do it a bit at a time and wait a few minutes, I used a fair bit in my build.

I did it on some of that stretchy stuff and normal cloth, beware the thin stuff it can seep through.

I would say thinners Rob dought if white spirit will touch it

I did plan to spray both Jeff but hadn't realised you could let it dry and it still stick. Thanks!

Masking tape where you don’t want the glue, then as Jeff has said let the glue dry

I'm glad you said that Richard as I also need some masking tape for when I cut out for 2 more windows that Modom wants installing.

well you could glue yer syrup on with it Ral.

Rob you only require th spray the panel its going on, tape of/mask with paper around where you spray, lay the carpet on from top centre and using a dry paint roller smooth out down and to edges, any small areas dab with a dry paint brush, try doing a roof, been there had the ticket.

Its a barstewart if you do but can be done and prob better, do the walls as i discribe, then carpet outside the van and bring in to hang, good luck rob.

few times i've done this [putting cloth on walls seems odd to me ] i've sprayed 2'' or so at the bottom ,then when thats all stuck and square ,start working my way up , a foot at a time , walloaper roller in my hand for bubbles
i meant to try something but never did - glue a bit of carpet a bit patchily , then run a hot iron over it . this might soften the glue enough to srt out the bubbles . easy experimentt anyway . works on vinyl floortiles and they're stuck with contact glue

That’s my next job too Rob I’m not looking forward to it as well but I’m trying to do as much myself as possible had David Wildebus do a massive part of the electrical stuff he’s a godsend with advice and skill. I’m gonna try and cover as much of the ply before I fit it.

I should have done mine before any furniture board went in years ago Wully.

Just like wallpaper you hang from top down, i would not use a heat gun, roller for sure, best to not do on a very hot day.

i did hear of a floorlaying team , spreading glue with a trowel on a hot day . a sudden spark caused an explosion that bleww the entire shopfront including 2 of the team ,into the street
