We are heading for Cardiff next week, I have never visited the Welsh capital before. We are looking for somewhere to spend two nights. Currently we are thinking of Adam street NCP carpark. Can anyone suggest anywhere else, or have info on the NCP carpark. Cheers.

Cann’t help with Cardiff but you may pass LLANBORTH national trust site South of Aberystwyth if you like a secluded coastal stop off, no showers but everything else with cafe next door.

Looks to be a cracking spot.

What type of parking are you looking for in Cardiff.
Hopefully close enough to walk into the city centre, and for two nights. I have spotted a car park on here but it’s not been reviewed since 2021. Cardiff Bay car park. And another member has pmd with what looks a good one also. Cheers .

Ask Tom ! Twentys, Plenty but not on hills !.

We parked in the in the train car park and moved to the waterside to over night.

OK, I'll bite. I am local, used to live on the outskirts of Cardiff but now near to Llantwit Major which is 10 miles west of Cardiff.
Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable stopping at Adam St NCP. It's a rough area. Marginally better is Sophia Gardens car park but if you are coming for an event (Taylor Swift fan, perhaps?) or there is an event on, don't even think about entering the city centre. It will be rammed.
If you like pub stops, I recommend the Plymouth Arms at St Fagans which has a large car park at the rear. There are regular buses to the centre and you can walk to the Museum of Welsh Life - well worth a visit and free. Another good pub stop is the Blue Anchor at Aberthaw.

If you need services there are two sites near Llantwit Major - Acorn and Happy Jakes. I haven't stayed there because they are on my front door but there is plenty of parking at the local rail station (20 mins to the centre, every hour)

(Since I've been typing this your post has appeared that you would prefer to walk into the centre. Knowing how rough Cardiff centre has become over the last few years, I really wouldn't overnight there, but that's just me)

Civic centre long stay car park. It's behind the law courts and museum.
N51.488611 w3.181785
Free if disabled
Or
Sophia gardens
N51.48366 w3.188726
Toilets in day but 24 hr radar key entry
Or just up the same road is
Cardiff Caravan Park. A council run campsite but it's around £30 per night.
All are a very short walk into the city centre...
There is free parking down the bay by the aqua park but it's a trek back to the centre
I've never stayed in adam street but have used the others.

Ok number14. I'm from llantwit major, though now in the forest of dean
Happy Jake's owner is a mate from back in olden times. he was the British unlimited 2 stroke champion before switching to 4 wheels.

Many thanks I will heed your advice.
We will head for Llantwit train station carpark and pay £4.60 a day and get the train into Cardiff. Is it best to get there early, we would be arriving on a Monday and staying for two nights. Cheers
Many thanks everyone, much appreciated. (y)

You don't say which Monday but there are engineering works (they are trimming back overhanging trees, I believe) between Sat 8th to Mon 17th June (https://tfw.wales/service-status/planned-improvement-works) with a dreaded bus replacement service which affects the Llantwit line. Otherwise you should be OK. I've never seen the car park full; it's not a major commuter stop.
Just a tip. Sometimes it's better to take the train to Bridgend and then pick up the express to Cardiff rather than the direct local train to Cardiff. I think the fare is the same either way. Just check the timetable carefully.
PM me if you want any detail help.

Not sure about the other places but my suggestion is not in the low emission area

Another vote for Sophia Gardens. A very short pleasant walk to city centre
We've stayed there a couple of times out of season, surprisingly quiet for a campsite in a city centre, it does get booked up when there's anything on at the stadiums.

But when you head in on the valleys road there’s a big sign that says you are entering a low emissions zone , I use it to navigate by to head to brother in laws as he lives just out of it 🤔

My van is only 6 months old euro 6 final.
Cheers
