Then again you might get a 10 year old Swift or whatever loads of unsafe diy gas and electrical jobs all in a dangerous condition never had a habitation check, guy chain smokes as well.
IMHO it not about safety at all its self appointed snobbish Site Manages that see a VAN then it’s question of its not coming on MY site. I have seen many self employed using their only transport ie a van towing a vcaravan being refused entry onto sites with the self imposed van rule. Next thing lift up solar panels will be banned. :scared:

I may be right or wrong but if the self build vehicle is unsafe then the compulsory insurance will be void in the event of an incident when parked up. And then what? The assessor would want to see evidence of habitation checks by suitably qualified persons. You are talking LPG, 240v electrics and petrol or diesel. If a members turns up in a self build with all the appropriate gas, electric and habitation certification and insurance then regardless of the vehicle age the vehicle should be allowed to enter.
Having paid for a space on a CAMC site surely members would like to think the site wardens would use some common sense when allowing members to park up on their sites and if they consider there is a possible hazard they would not permit the vehicle on the site.
Many privately owned caravan parks have similar requirements. Including not permitting white vans to enter on their own as these are considered to be commercial vehicles and not designed for sleeping in. Self builds potentially do not have the safety features that professional builds have to have to pass certification.
