Canterbury Park And Ride

The canterbury Council's website, still shows parking for motorhomes, at the New Dover Road, site, with no apparent changes.

I was concerned, however, at our last visit, when some motorhomers, on the overflow section, were treating it like a campsite, with tables & chairs, barbeques etc.
With this sort of behaviour, it might spoil it for the future. Yet again, a minority, abusing a very useful facility.
 
you really need to see the actual court ruling, if it refers to setting up an encampment theres nothing to stop parking a motor home or caravan for a few hours. perhaps the councils legal department would clarify..... but ask for web links to court documents as council officials... even county solicitors have been known to tell porkies.

Probably not, as in my recent visit and a chat with the staff they are quite relaxed about it at the moment. I am sure if it becomes a problem they will take action. Easily done since there are staff on site all opening hours.

It is indeed a well-run facility and the new MH facilities at the Wincheap P+R will probably be even better, with 2 service points being planned. I have had some input into the planning.

I did not know about a new facility at Wincheap, thank you for posting, I will look out for this one, well done Canterbury.

It`s right at the side of the A2 so will probably be too noisy for us so we`ll stick with New Dover Road.
 
It appears to be a move that has been made by a few local authorities , as an anti traveller/Gypsy encampment
expedition strategy . Whereby they can take immediate action under the contempt of court method rather than the very extended normal procedure .

Thanks read the Court Order.

It is in respect of a Temporary Injunction pending the hearing for a full injunction.

It seems to be addressing a problem of 'Gypsies', which group it names as such, occupying certain pieces of land, designated on a map but the link did not include the map.

It prohibits MHsCaravans and trailers from those sites.

There seems to be no relevance to the general MH community in general. Relax all.

I have met the guy in charge of parking and he is pro MHs. Also the staff at N. Dover Rd. P+R say they wish they had more as it is good for income.
