Mrs D is watching Eastenders in the van and I am bored. I took this pic from the back of the van earlier this evening and wondered if anyone fancied guessing where this terrific wild camping spot is.

A few clues.

Its north of Birmingham but south of Oban

Directly in front of me about 2 miles out to sea is a small island about 2 miles long

Its west not east.

We come here often

At first I thought the small island was Walney Island off the Furness peninsular, but that wouldn't be 2 miles out to sea. Looks a nice spot :)

Wow that was a quick response but not right. If nobody gets it by the morning I will take a picture of the island directly behind the van and then I reckon a few will get it!

Bloody Masterchef now!

Are you at Troon, looking out to Lady Isle by any chance?

No, Lady Isle's not 2 miles long........

Last guess tonight and I'm fairly confident this time - are you at Hunterston looking out to Little Cumbrae?

Is it somewhere looking out towards Ailsa Craig or maybe Arran???

Your getting very warm. You all assume I am on the mainland though.

Could be Great Cumbrae looking at Little Cumbrae then.

Sorry, said I'd had my last guess tonight......doh

I know where you are but found it by detective work not from experience so I will not blab. i will PM to tell you.

Too many clues on this site and I am bored as well.

You mean like you do.

In a field of sheep with wellies on. No thanks.

ps: A Kilt is best as the sheep can hear the sound of a zip. Allegedly.

Well Maingate got it but chose to PM me with the answer and he seems bored and a little grumpy. Ive got a hangover but refuse to feel grumpy waking up to this view.

You chaps were quick to locate the area though and were very close. I am assuming now someone else will get it quick from this picture.

ITs a lovely spot, very quiet except for some berk walking a yappy dog woke me up at 7:30 this morning. Fancy thinking they can just turf up at that time in my garden!

What a life!

I have a feeling it's Arran - maybe Lochranza? We stayed there a few years ago in an old Landrover Forward Control 101 - great vehicle but we sold it last year and bought our Autocruise MH - our kids thought they would never see the day when we became "civilised". However, we always wild camp, so still not quite as civilised as they would like.

Well done (almost)! Right Island wrong location. Bit of a change from the Landy to the Autocruise!

Cheers

Is it Holy Island from Lamlash Bay on Arran. you could be parked up in Lamlash, Cordon or Blairbeg on the B841
