Campsites to reopen

If this is the case someone had better tell the club's. Both have advertised the fact that they are opening on the fourth, presumably following a whisper in their ear.

Yes, we are forever bewailing the poor impression caused by hire motorhomes whose occupants are entirely ignorant that there is any etiquette or indeed any social responsibility to be observed, or the effect their behaviour will have on Public perceptions of motorhomers. I found a similar situation to exist regarding hire boats on canals both in UK and Europe. They are completely ignorant in this respect, to a large degree because the Hire Companies provide them with no such information or guidance beyond the rudimentaries of how things work on the vans.

Perhaps it is time that groups such as ours should be writing to and putting pressure on hire companies concerning this. Certainly there would be some merit in such companies in turn being persuaded not only to provide better guidance but also to put pressure on or even support local authorities to provide proper facilities for motorhomes. After all in the absence of this their activities, and ours, can be expected to be increasing constrained as time goes by. Local authorities in rural France for example are by no means unaware of the value of hire boat visitors to their local economies...or indeed motorhomes...as is evidenced by the considerable improvements in facilities in France for both boats and motorhomes that have been in evidence in that country over the last two decades.
I accept that hand over might be shoddy from hirers, but what happens to courtesy and common sense? Do they never think how they would feel if someone took more than their fair share of parking spaces, what they would feel about someone emptying water and expecting them to walk through it, or heaven forbid, they saw the remnants of an empty cassette when they were out walking, Where has consideration for others gone. Makes you wonder if they live like that all the time......me, me, me.:(

Nail on head, Sue (y)

Motorhome hirers (probably not all).. when we were away last year there was a few hired motorhomers didn’t know what half the things worked because they hadn’t been shown so Malcolm had to show them even down to opening the garage door,

Sadly, I suspect they do. You only have to look at all the rubbish strewn about at beauty spots after a busy weekend. I just don't get the logic of travalling to see a beauty spot and then leaving rubbish there effectively making it no longer a beauty spot. I rather suspect that these people just don't see it at all, it is as if they have a rubbish filter in their vision.

Sorry, slightly off topic rubbish rant over.

Just make my blood boil!

When we bought the latest MH, at the point of handover they gave us a 40 minute tutorial.
It started, "I know you are already experienced MHers and many features here will be familiar to you but I am going to give this tutorial even if I have to pin you to the ground".
