Hi please can anyone tell me if Camping Car Park and Camper Contact are one and the same? I am getting very confused (easily done) as both sites seem the same but by different titles.
Thanks in advance..

Camping Car Park is the company that has taken over loads of Aires in France and opened lots of new ones and Camper Contact is just another search for sites type site which I assume will include all the Camping Car Park Aires.

And just to confuse things, there are some municipal sites which are (town name) aux camping car...we went to one in Jaulgonne near Chateau Thierry yesterday and it was labelled like this. Had to use a credit/ debit card to pay to get in...no apps etc.

Thanks everyone, We've stayed on the 'CampingCar Park' Aires many times and have to Pass'Estapes card, with lots of credit on it. When I go on either web sites however they are showing the same Aires so not easy to work out, for an old lady anyhow. I’m actually trying to pre book but it’s an absolute nightmare and am nearly at the stage of throwing the iPad out of the window, not the van window of course but the lounge window!

I understand from other threads that CampingCar-Park will let you pre-book if you have paid a subscription for the privilege. I would be chucking the Pass'Etapes card out of the window and using the extensive network of free aires. :)

Trouble is in a few key places there are no other options now. I discovered recently that the Aire we used for years at Lac St Croix on the edge of St Croix village has now closed and replaced at the top of the hill above the village by a Camping Car Park Aire. We love it there and will be forced to use it this summer. There are no other options really if you want to be that side of the lake apart from sites.

If people stopped using these monopolistic sites they'd change their practices. People have the power to prove them wrong.

The aire at Wissant used to be free. It was always full even in the off season. It's now an expensive aire, not CCP in this case, and it is notably devoid of patrons. The local traders must be noticing a hit to their turnover.

Like I said though. They are the only option now in some key places. By not using the one at St Croix this summer ill only be spiting myself as I don't fancy being on the campsite there in the school holidays. I'm not surprised the Wissant one isn't popular. Its just a one horse northern seaside town people used to stop at before getting the ferry. Other options are available I guess.

Wissant is a very pleasant place to stroll around and is well worth visiting.

There aren't any options nearby for those travelling via Calais. That's why it used to be so popular!

So true, I’ve recently bought ‘All the Aires of France’ 10 edition after using the 2nd edition since 2008 ! Brilliant but however, even quite a few of the Aires in the book are now ‘CampingCar Park’ such a shame but the way of the world now, we can’t stop the clock, unfortunately.

We are off today and will only use them if we have no choice. But I'm tight, so it will probably never happen.

Its a while since I've been but there used to be a few options in that area. Wissant is ok but its nothing special. Its not somewhere I would choose to go apart from it being convenient for the ferry as a stopover. There must be a reason its now empty as I gather some of the popular Camping Car park Aires are always busy.

Of course people are not going to stop using them, Convenient and serviced, in prime locations (not all) and generally clean and tidy. I love them!

Just watch out for the occasional one that has no services!

As rare as hens teeth! And if it has no facilities, it would be on the app, so we could make that decision at the time. Can you point out one with no facilities? I did a quick look and all I could find was one with nine spaces and eight electric posts!

Pros and Cons for camping car parks but if you're travelling through France in winter you can usually find one with all services for a night, a lot of the older aires have water turned off.
