CAMPERVAN WIFI QUESTION.

My home router (ZTE) runs a Smarty SIM card which is 5G and it works fine. I originally had the EE SIM card in the ZTE router at home with a great signal/bandwidth. Got up one morning and no internet, the EE 5G had just stopped working, I believe they were piggy backing off a 3 mast and whatever agreement 3 and EE had ended. If I put the ZTE router with EE sim in the van on the road outside the house I get a great signal, inside the house towards the back where I have the router nothing.

3 5G works great so I just use the Smarty sim at home.

Because I have both 3 in my iPhone and EE in my van router I get a pretty good comparison of how they both perform. Obviously I can't be in every place stopped and trying the internet but I can say its extremely unusual for me not to able to stream and get decent mobile broadband from the Highlands of Scotland down to Cornwall.

Wales now, I would need to go and check again as I have been snowed in a few places there with no signal. Mrs was best impressed as it was while I was waiting for heart op lol
Thanks nabsim.
Mine seems to be the same, but one day it works, the next day it doesn't. That's why I'm thinking signal??🤷

Probably, it may be you are borderline for the masts. You can get home antenna's, I know 3 used to do them for their home broadband at one time, I don't have any experience of home antennas. There was at least one member here had one fitted by their provider though but I can't think who it was

Evening all.

Has anyone got the latest EE 5g mobile broadband router in there vehicle, if so what results are you getting, and do you use an external aerial/s?

Having trouble with my 4g router, so thinking of changing to the above.

Thanks in anticipation

Colin.
Hi Colin I have a 5g Router with a sin card on it. The antenna is from UniteCom High performance 4g/5g I purchased it on Amazon a few years ago. It never let me down, the antenna is mounted on the roof with an automatic actuator to make it easy to use. The router is Zyxel NR5101 and works very well with fast speed. i hope it helps please see the pictures for reference.

It looks as though 3 now offer this device where signal indoors may be an issue: https://www.three.co.uk/broadband/home-broadband/5g-outdoor-hub

I have a home antenna fitted f.o.c by Malvern council before we had broadband in the area, there was a grant scheme at the time about 6 years back but probably unobtainable nowadays, it’s still on the front of the house, I don’t have the router any longer though but it worked ok .

Thanks everyone for the replies and ideas.
I've decided to do the following as per attached: fit the better external aerial (hopefully better than the two whip areials that were supplied with the router) onto one of the extendable tent poles, and fit that onto the spare wheel rack as per photo. Hopefully this will give me a better signal with the new aerial and the ability to extend it.🤞🤞🙂👍.

That’ll get the job done 👍

I have one similar to three. I use smarty (three) with 100g which is £15.30 which does us for tv, internet & mobiles. Now something to bearer in mind is voltage. You will need a regulator that will give you 12v if you have lithium which can be 14v it will cut out due to high voltage.
