Bugger!!!!! We paid it on a new van a week or two before then. Does that mean we can re-register as a van? Or are we stuck with it? Can we get a refund?

Dang it. I just renewed (as a commercial van) two days ago for 12 months. Is there a lot of difference under the new duties?

Seems I’ve answered my own question...what a stitch up. Even if you SORN and claim a refund DVLA say...
Refund for the first tax payment on the vehicle
The amount you get back will be based on whichever is lower of:

• the first tax payment when you registered the vehicle
• the rate for the second tax payment onward

what about the £460 a year for five years.
will you not get this reduced to £265

I do hope so, but I wonder if I will have to take some action to achieve this or if it will reduce automatically.
