camos sat system

hello, wonder if anyone can help, we got our van in march so are new to motorhome life, but so far we are having a ball, just returned from two weeks in England, everything great, just a small problem with our sat system. We park up at the end of the day, turn the system on, and all OK, then after an hour or so we loose all the bbc channels, Our dealer Richard Baldwin in Halifax, have bent over backwards to help us, replacing the LNB, and the tuner box, but to no avail. Due to the way our van is built, an auto-sleeper sigma the camos sits down in a dip on the roof, we wonder is the roof itself blocking the signal. I would be very grateful if anyone has any ideas, as it is driving hubby nuts,
 
Which Camos is it? Whereabouts are you? I think there have been problems with one or two of the 40cm sat-dome systems losing channels in the evening in some parts of Scotland even though the footprint maps indicate that they should be OK. The 30cm systems will struggle with any channels on Astra 2D (which includes the BBC) in Scotland, the north of Scotland is outside the reception footprint of Astra 2D for the 30cm system.

thanks for your reply, my system is a 40cm, I am in northern ireland. I was touring in Scotland when it first occured, and lately I have been in the North of England and borders of Scotland. It happens every night, even when i am at home.

Both the 30cm and 40cm system should work fine in NI, according to the footprint map. Sounds like you need to get a Camos expert to look at it, I think RoadPro are the main importers, might be worth getting in touch with them.

I have a camos dome and had no problems in Scotland, turn on seeks satelite and no dramas at all.
 
What happened

It's a bit late in the day but, did this matter ever get resolved?

The fact that you can initially get your signal and BBC stations indicates to me that the fault is not with the Camos or your box. When the signal goes, can you still get other stations? What do you have to do to get BBC again?

Presumably you are running it 12v DC via an inverter (or using an AC power source)? If the former, is a power drop in the leisure battery the culprit? If so try turning on the ignition to charge the batteries back up and see if that temporarily solves it. A TV and satellite drains the batteries a lot - about an hour could sound about right to do that. Maybe you need new leisure batteries or a more efficient charging system (e.g. solar panel/generator)

Just a few ideas to be going on with, keep us posted as we want to know the eventual solution (as indeed there will be!)
