Just picked up on the recall got 3 calorlites 2x 2008 1x 2012 so both the 2008s are in the recall, how's your luck one of them is the one in my gas cupboard wedged behind my gaslo as a back up & of course that one is full the other is empty just got to wait till Wednesday and find our local stockist.

This link will give details and how to identify affected cylinders,
CalorLite® Recall

Thanks for this info have a gas it system now but still got 2 lites in the garage for bbq ones 2012 quarter full and a 2010 empty I won't be saying no to a free full cylinder :)

I had issues with two of these emptying themselves the year before last, I reported it to my stockist who didnt seem interested. I just swapped back to the ordinary ones.

I've got a 2009 one here that I use as a backup about half full so don't mind taking it in for an exchange just seems strange that there has been no publicity about this mind you I wonder how we are meant to get exchanges when calor have said that they have very little stock of the calor lites and people have been finding it hard to get hold of them. you would have thought it would have at least been mentioned in the two main caravan/ camping club magazines

total lack of mention of this recall on Calor's website where if anywhere it should be very prominant

I did follow your link and read the page what I meant was I just googled calor and went direct to their website but could find no obvious mention of it, you would have thought it would be very prominent on the first web page you come to. I shall be visiting my supplier when possible and thank you for the heads up.

CalorLite® Recall
It's on the calor website see above and my OP , recall issued 15/09 effective from 24/09.

Nice one, just checked mine and they need to be recalled, that will save me a few £. The website says even if the bottle is empty they will still exchange for a full one.

i did the same as you, even looked at the type of bottles for sale and totally nothing is mentioned about recalling these on their site whatsoever until i typed in recall in their search box, surely they should have a warning banner blazoned across their pages about this, without the initial post being put on here, i and no doubt many others would never have known, so thank you for the heads up on it rugbyken..

We're of next week for couple of days britstops and wilding up near Grimsby cos my mate wants Some auto trail parts , he said he needed gas only got a sniff in bottom of cylinder told him about the recall & luckily both his cylinders were 2008 he took them local stockist JR leisure this am they not heard of recall but they rang calor he got two full cylinders good result,

I've just been to our local chandlery and they hadn't heard a thing about it, and the guy was wondering why Calor hadn't honoured his Calorlite order this week!

have to say that i'm gobsmacked that suppliers don't even know about a recall such as this when it involves safety, for goodness sake, if bottles can leak then i know that i'm stating the obvious, but someone could lose their life..

Took my two cylinders in to Go Outdoors this morning along with a copy of the recall notice. They started to charge me for the refils till I showed them the notice. After some investigation they exchanged them free. Thanks for the warning thread on this site.
ps I suspect there might be even more short supply issues with these cylinders now.

Have to check my bottle, probably like many others just carry the bottle as a reserve as mainly use my refillable. Think calorlite is still nearly full as only used it for a couple of bbq's, if it does need to be returned I might as well use it a bit before returning.

Thank You For The Information

:nicethread:

Took my 2 Calor-Lites to my local depot this morning first thing.

I was the first one to bring any in and they had only heard about it on saturday morning off the rep that called in.

They only had 1 good one in stock all the others were dated in the recall period so they`ve been withdrawn.

I got 1 replaced and the other i`ve got a voucher for a new one when they come in.

Took mine back to local supplier didn't know anything about it - checked online and said come back Wed Not the type of customer service I expect still will change bottle on Wed then give them wide berth unless I'm really desperate

I took my two cylinders - one full and one nearly empty - back to Viscount Caravans today and they exchanged them without question or delay. The lady told me that I was fortunate that there was some left in the lighter one: I would have had to pay for the gas had it been empty!

Thats ridiculous the recall is because the gas might leak out, Ive previously had two of these and lost all the gas from one while parked up and most out of the second, I dont use them now.

That is incorrect, i spoke to Calor this morning on their helpline 0800 783 4141 and was told that even if they are empty they will be replaced with a full one.

However, you might have to go to a full Calor Gas centre as some other dealers are trying to charge for empty ones.
