Last week I paid £28, £46.75 for a 13kg Calor Kev.Overcharging I think, Calor quote £32 for aa 6kg of Propane.
Not in most of our lifetimes on here, we used about 12L of gas over 7 weeks.Improvements in battery technology and reduction in price of lithium batteries will make gas systems in vans redundant before long. After two weeks without EHU and running a three way fridge, a gas hob and oven we have only used around 4kg of gas If we had a compressor fridge and an induction hob this would have been reduced to 1-2kg. I have 2x100ah lithium and even using an inverter we have not went below 80%. I reckon the days of using gas in vans are numbered.

I was talking about new vans Kev.
Gas will continue to be used on most vans out there today. But vans are now on offer with large lithium banks, diesel boilers, plenty of solar and no gas.
I think the low end market will still produce the present type of van as it is a known entity and presumably cheapest to build at least for a few more years.
The Kontiki was their flag ship.Whats the low end market these days? Even a new Swift Kontiki is north of £100k I think
I bet they are only available as an add on rather than standard and if they are it would be interesting to see if the additional cost is cheaper and more importantly better than an after market fit by a specialist company like Offgrid solutions.
More and more vans are coming with compressor fridges, and diesel heaters Barry.I was just about to ask that. As far as I was aware new vans are still being shipped with Lead acid, gas heaters and 3 way fridges but I stand to be corrected. Then again I think it depends on the target market. We are a little bit different on here it being a wild camping forum but I reckon the majority of motorhomes spend half their life on hookup on sites. No need for Lithium or compressor fridges and gas heating then.
