i have had gasit in my van for a couple of years and will probably never go back to Calor - unless someone tells me there is no LPG in Eastern Europe or Morocco - countries i plan to visit in the future - in which case i may hang onto them. Unless gasit bottles can be reused for Calor.....

You can tell i know nowt about this.... again !!!

i have 2 bottles 7 (?) kgs. i can find a Calor agreement for one, but not the other, and i could get a 45% refund if i take them back to my local Calor dealer who is my local friendly garage. Has anyone done this ? do they need the agreement to give a refund?

thanks

Calor Gas Bottle Return | Get Cashback gives Calor's take on this. With the original receipt (not a receipt for a refill) you can get between 70% and 25% depending on how old the contract is. Without a receipt, they'll only give you £7.50 per bottle. HTH.

What use would a Calor bottle be in Eastern Europe or in Morocco? You can only exchange them in the UK.

I've heard that virtually any gas bottle can be filled in Morocco and Eastern Europe. Sometimes by the bottle owner at filling stations, sometimes by 'professionals' at gas filling plants.

Do you have to be quite so rude? i said in my first post that i was asking for information/help as i dont know the answers. You have chosen to not read my post very carefully. More and more British LPG sources are disappearing. I dont know if LPG is available in morocco. If it is not - then it would be prudent for me to keep my old Calor bottles to use there.

Fear not

Autogas is available in most of Eastern Europe.
Eg Romania.
Morocco uses bottled lpg and the locals have ways and means see other posts.
I suspect the same applies to other countries..
Yes a bit hit and miss.
I perceive Finland as being the only country where it maybe impossible.

I think people just buy a local bottle when they get there if they're worried about filling their own, and sell it when leaving that country.

The calor you have is probable of little use as filling overseas will be impossible, or just possible in Moroc.

Do you have a barbecue point to back feed the system so you can use other bottles when not on Gasit?

can you explain this julian please ?

If you have an external gas Barby point then you can feed gas INTO the Moho through this (provided it's not got a one-way valve fitted) then any gas cylider WITH a regulator on can supply gas to the van.
There are also special hoses available to fit in the gas locker to enable this too

We're off to the Massif central soon and I'll take a 11kg Patio gas bottle, Flogas, with me in case we can't refill the Gaslow tanks nearby as they're only 2 x 6kg, we have gas heating may be cold up them hills. Off course the Flogas is just a back up and I can't fill that there.

many use adaptors off ebay to fill uk bottles when abroad.
certainly portugal there are places that fill uk bottles for you . and spain. in morocco they will fill uk bottles but its cheaper to get a local bottle . in spain its normally cheaper to exchange a spanish bottle than refill any bottle at the pumps .
like every thing depends where you might be going as to whats ok or not.
camping gas is incredibly cheap in morocco. even paying for a bottle its cheap.

There is only one LPG garage in Morocco but I don't know where it is.

Bottled gas there is extremely cheap, 11p to 15p a litre. Keep your gas-it system & buy a 6kg or 11kg bottle, get a Gaslow connector & run that to your external filling point. This is not always possible when wild camping in urban areas & the Ayrabs will nick anything if it's not bolted down.

In Morocco I buy a 907 or a 6kg bottle (over there they have the same fitting) & run that to my filler point. the deposit on a bottle is very cheap, about £4 to £6, on the way out of the country I dump the bottle as they are usually in such a disgusting state you wouldn't want to bring it home

If you can get money back on your empty calor gas bottles take the money, empty replacements are only a pound or two at car boot sales.

If my calor centre was nearer I would take mine back.

If you are taking them back without paperwork it has to be at one of the main 50 Calor ..... scroll down Calor Gas Bottle Return | Get Cashback

Mine is over at Blackpool so thankfully i was going that way and had 3 empties so it was worth it, a special journey with 1 bottle wouldn`t have been worth it.
