...and others interested in France and Scotland.
I recently visited Aubigny-sur-Nère in the Cher département. It is a delightful small town which had close ties with Scotland for many centuries, and is well worth a visit. It has 3 aires with service points, a couple of other areas for motorhome parking, plus a campsite for those requiring such facilities. A major Scottish festival is held annually in mid-July, which would be a very interesting time to visit but the town is apparently overwhelmed with tourists at that time, so advance planning may be necessary.
There is a potted history in English at https://francetoday.com/travel/trav...scottish_heritage_in_the_city_of_the_stuarts/ but those with some command of French may be interested in https://www.aubigny.net/Aubigny-une-ville-chargee-d and https://www.francetvinfo.fr/replay-...t-perdurer-son-heritage-ecossais_5922182.html As a member of a group from a French motorhomers' association, I enjoyed the privilege of a fascinating talk and guided tour by François Gresset, Premier Adoint au maire, who features in the French TV report.
