I have a Rapido 854F and as I'm going to replace the original lead batteries with a single lithium and the existing CBE516 mains charger does not have a lithium profile, I'm going to install a Victron IP22 but leave the CBE instu. The Victron comes with a 3 pin plug.Do I just cut off the plug on the Victron and remove and connect to the live, neutral and earth wires here thus by passing the cbe unit?

That's what I want to do trev but my charging unit is pretty much bottom of the range
Rip it out then and upgrade, i stayed with standard batts and not liths, why because i have a numax smart charger which cost me lots of dosh and all works well, next batts will be lead carbons which meens no changes.

My lithium has been charged by my CBE 516 for the last 4 years. The Gel profile has a long constant voltage period so I use the Pb profile which has a shorter charge and slightly lower voltages. It slightly undercharges the lithium but this is not a problem. When I am on an EHU I don’t need a full battery and if anything it is kinder to the battery. I only need a full battery when not on EHU and my B2B takes care of this.

The CBE 516-3 is a different matter because it has a desulphation phase and I would not leave this model connected to a lithium battery.

When I did my training with Relion, I was taught that overcharging LFP batteries was not much of an issue with a motorhome as you would have to keep the batteries above 14.4v for months before the charging would influence the cell voltages. The real issue with mains chargers was then using an AGM profile and sending a higher voltage to the battery and the BMS disconnecting the power. With the more modern LFP batteries, they have a bi-directional BMS, which will disconnect the charging whilst still leaving the output running.

What are the benefits Trev of lead carbon over lead acid?

Yup it's the 3 with desulphation.
