Anyone have one of these Bushcraft woodsman log stoves? We bought one to supplement the outdoor cooking and winter night in the awning but have had a lot of issues with excess smoke, from door when open but also doesn't burn well when door closed, even with vents fully open. All flue sections checked etc. Just wondered if anyone else had similar issues. Have purchased additional flue sections to try that next weekend.
Thanks for any suggestions.

P.S.. must check descriptive text help before submit.

Guess your using dry wood the extension flue should improve the thru draught if it does let us know how much your using

I see on your other thread that you're buying logs from petrol stations.

Although they claim logs are seasoned, they invariably aren't or only partially so. This could be why so much smoke.

Korky.

Tried all the usual culprits, dry wood etc.

Yes we have had several of this type of log stove but obviously not portable.
We currently have five sections of flue which takes the spark arrested to above the awning by two feet. I wondered if the actual height of the motor home with AC unit etc might still be an issue so have ordered another two sections of flue.
Will try it next week once MH back on road.
Just suffered the y'all too common' 5th gear catastrophic failure on the Fiat Ducati TD gearbox.
What a nightmare, only had the MH since April.....

My trick with an IXL pot belly stove was to start with small twigs to get it hot and roaring up the chimney, then add bigger pieces of wood that burn as soon as they are put in.

mmmm I asked in my local chemist for some potassium Permanganate ...thought I was going to be arrested !!! ....useful for lighting fires antiseptic and purifying water ...I guess he thought I was a bomb maker.

In my mind, to get the best out of any stove you create a bed of embers especially if cooking ...The reality is the more you need a fire the more difficult it generally is to light one.

Where did I put that Glycerine ? :ninja:

LPG it should have read, descriptive text error on my part.

Separate issue. We can't afford to buy logs from a filling station. The descriptive text gremlins opted for alternative word. My fault for not checking before submitting, but thanks for response.

Thank you Robmac.

Thanks for the info, yes was able to follow thread and a lot on good suggestions and potential causes. I felt at 63mm it was the flue was too small, but will try a few of the other ideas.
My main reason for the purchase was to eliminate the smoke as my partner suffers from COPD.
We still enjoy sitting round the 'campfire' even in the awning but the enclosed log stove seemed to be the answer. So far it has not been.
Much appreciated that you sent the thread, I had read many others but not of the informative content of that one.
