Hi folks, we've just had a great month away driving wherever we wanted to in uk and ending up at Dorset Steam fair. Got home done my usual looking at mo homes for sale and saw an Iveco 850/2 Burstner for sale. Anyway not trying to ramble on, drove nearly 100 miles had a look at this 850 got a good p/ex value for my current Billy Burstner, wifey loves it etc. I'm pretty clued up mechanically and can get out of a pickle most times but has anyone on here had/got one? It's 2.8 2005, now my 2.8jtd has 127 horseys did the 850's have a tiddley bit more? Just enquiring for general advice before changing, good or bad, insult me I don't mind! thanks.

It will be 127 BHP, the same as your present van (unless it is LHD, then it will be 142 BHP). You can have it remapped or chipped as there is more power available ....... but beware how you drive it, Fiat Clutches don't like to be abused.

Thanks, I'm going back to have a good drive in it tomorrow and another good look round. I was a bit unsure about the output as its mated to a 6 speed box and it's also RHD . Obviously it's going to drive differently due to size, being rear wheel drive etc. If we have it it's mainly due to the extra space inside and the garage/ compartments outside plus I noticed the refillable gas bottles which is a bonus. All I need to do is chuck a couple of solar panels on top and off we go again.

The 6 speed box should improve the driving experience a lot. I had a 5 ton Burstner 747 with the 2.8 and 5 speed box. The gear ratios were not suited to driving within speed limits in Urban areas. I was either in a low gear using lots of revs or changing up and driving at too low revs. I now have a Burstner on a Renault with 6 speed box and the ratios are perfectly matched to driving in 30, 40 and 50 mph zones.

With the 747, a had a Tunit box fitted to give a bit more power and it made a difference.
