Break ins

A few months ago a member on another forum was overnighting in his van at Cardiff Gate services on the M4 and woke in the middle of the night to find 2 young theives inside his van having silently forced a doorlock. They made off with various items before he was in any state to give chase.

I believe he now has a 'state of the art' permanently live security system, which incorporates visual, sound and scent detection, although some people refer to it as a Jack Russell.

yes we put signs on the door of a boxer saying caution i live here...if we are just popping out she sits in the drivers seat (funny sight)..we also just bought some door locks from graham and these also are a visual deterent...so fingers crossed it'll never happen...but im also aware it could...im just hoping we are gonna be lucky & avoid a break in..

Its the world we live in and happens all the time to somone in some way, not ness in thier vans but it happens sadly

hi all,
i was very pleased to see our new konti has electric dead-bolts fitted to the front doors after an attempted break-in during it's previous ownership.
i was told by the supplier/fitter that they are the same as fitted to securicor vans :D and have an auto re-lock function if the ign isn't turned on in xx seconds which is a bit worrying if you leave the key inside while giving a last check around ect.
i dont know if he still fits them but you can find him at cleveland motorhomes. i didnt get his name. :(
i had a car broken into in the past and it was so easy to screwdriver the locks.
all we need now is a hab door lock and we should be pretty safe. BUT theres always the windows

john.

Chain

I have just fitted a couple of security fittings to the inside of my cab doors.
This will enable a chain to be padlocked across the doors!:D
