Booster pack

See what the dealer says Kev, it’s only the engine battery that you would need to do anything with, it will just run on the petrol engine if power is too low on traction battery.
Don’t think you should have a big problem if engine battery goes flat though. Mine has a hidden key built into the fob that you can open the doors if you lose 12V power. My battery has never gone flat but it has locked out all electrics twice since I have had it. Simple job to get in and push reset button once you know where to find a keyhole for the emergency key lol
Yes this has the silly hidden key too Niel, why hide it anyway, oddly when I was scrolling through the PDF manual it was the first place I stopped to read, I wonder how much it costs to R&D that facility compared with just making a flip-out key as normal, it still needs a lock, it still has a key, not to mention the stupid keyless entry, I just don't see any advantage to that at all just complexity for the sake of it.

Rant paused.

You won’t see any lock on my car though Kev, was a good job I had phone signal first time I lost power. Mind you, didn’t even know there was an emergency key either then lol

It's not very secure either, I sat in the lounge at home to put it on the house key ring, you have to open the fob to do it, I hung them back up in the kitchen and thought no more about it, at tea time Liz said whats that on the floor in front of you, was the blasted secret key, it now has a bit of tape round it to jam it in better.

I missed that it was an electric vehicle Kev. Presumably it's quite new then. Speak to the dealer. Maybe they can be shut down or something. Cant you just leave it plugged in on the drive? I know nothing of these new fangled cars! 😁

Wait a minute! Am I missing something? How would you jump start an EV anyway?

Ah ah, got you this time! :D

They (EVs & HEVs) have a 12v battery that powers non traction devices (radio / alarm / lights etc). It also powers the start up circuits that control the traction battery / fossil fuel engine. The traction battery will charge the 12v, but only if the vehicle is activated. If the 12v is flat the vehicle will not activate and thus not start.

You jump start the same as a fossil fuel vehicle, but leave the leads on for 10 mins to allow the 12v battery to get some charge.

Within the first month of ownership it happened to me twice, but never since (touch wood).

Well you learn something new everyday! 😁

I think the Ctek is the way to go, but I might get the booster anyway, I used to have one of those big ones but the first time I needed it it was flat, not sure how the linked ones fair over time unconnected or how they charge up, USB would be a good option as well as 240.

They don't lose a charge if you are not using them, they charge from the mains with an adapter, a 12v socket or a USB C (very quick especially if you have a USB C to USB C connector), you can also charge phones, tablets etc from them as well as jump-starting

I have a similar power bank and they are incredible, my van went flat with a dud battery and the little thing cranked it over like nobody’s business, the gauge said it had used about 15% and it hadn’t been charged for over a year since I’d bought it.
