When I need to turn on the heating I just push the switch up as shown on the right side of the photo. This also gives me my hot water.

My question is:- If the boiler was empty, could I still switch on the heating? Please have a look at the picture and advice me. The sign for the shower is marked at every switch, which is why I am afraid to put on the heater. HELP!!!!.

The instructions for my unit - which has a different looking switch with the sane functions - specifically states that it can be operated without water in the unit

I thought so too but was uncertain. All I know if there is a fault or if something goes wrong the green light turns to an orange. Infact it turns itself out automatically. The reason I am being extra careful is because if I blow the boiler I then must have deep pockets to replace. Thanks anyway Tony.

Yes you can have the heating on without water in it if the boiler is the c6002 model

Thanks KF. I will look up the book and see if it is. By the way, I fly Kingfisher from Bombay to Goa. Will be doing that on the2nd of Jan '13.

The instructions say the water is heated with the van heating so surely water should be in the boiler as it must be heated at the same time???

Not wishing to take this off topic, but just a quick heads up re Kingfisher airlines, if this is the same airline you are flying with then keep an eye on things as they have been having money trouble for a while,

It may all be ok or a different airline you are flying with but if not at least you have a bit of time to come up with a plan b if you need to

You are correct about KF. I am flying Jet Airways from Heathrow to Bombay and then FK to Goa if all is well. Jet Airways have assured me that if KF don't take off, we will fly by Indian Airlines or any other available. Tickets were booked well in advance and at the time no reports about KF. If worst come to the worst, we will train it from Bombay to Margao, takes 12 hours. Enjoyed the trip the last time. Rough but fun and it was an experience. Okay folks, back to Topic.☺☺☺

Problem solved. I looked up the manuel book. It says I can switch on heater without filling the boiler. Thanks folks for your help.
