Happy New Year to all.

We need a service such as "Boatmail" which we use for 90% of the usual busines
DVLA Insurance and Bank being of particular interest in this forum.

We have been using them (ie Boatmail) for 3 years and have been very happy with the service/arrangement

However the business has changed hands and so a new address needs to be registered with 12 agencies (and the like).

BEFORE I do the changes I am interested in comparing with other companies who offer the same or very similar service

Changing our address is a pain (to say the least) so whilst reliability and service at sensible costs are most important..
I hope to find an address that will be "permanent"

Who do others use ?
I shy away from using a friend or relative and I am quite content to pay up
But as members/fulltimers will know
a "UK Street address" for DVLA and insurance is needed a PO Box is no good

The boatmail service would open all letters and either Scan and email or in very few cases forward to a UK Post Office (Poste Restante)
Or indeed to Thailand.

It may well be that I continue to use boatmail but it is sensible to consider others at this time of change.

Thanks
Phil & Nida

PS the only thing that never changes is "that things are always changing !"

Using the address for a Driving Licence

boatmail.co.uk has a considerable number of Driving Licences registered at the address in different names and in many ways is it is understandable that the DVLA are challenging whether the applicant is genuine

Any application for a new or renewal of a Driving Licence is now being routinely challenged an refused by DVLA

Strangely though the letter they are sending the applicant says that applications are not accepted to a PO Box where it has been made with the street address provided by boatmail.co.uk

For the boating and travelling community, a response to this showing that the holder has a travelling lifestyle and the said address is the only point of contact (and you can be contacted quickly is key) will progress the application and a licence is normally issued (for those living on canal boats, a copy of the Canal and River Trust Licence will sffice as proof of the lifestyle or in vehicle based lifestyles a copy of the V5 and receipts from
sites). Contact with the person reviewing the case at DVLA appears to help as well
