Bleeding generators...

I LOVE using my Generator 👍
So convenient, Instant power LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT 😊
Ha ha and me NZ. Go I running now on the drove and those that parked around me couldn’t care less. I did ask if anyone wanted to connect up to get some charge but none of them set up for 240v. Min you mines only 1Kw jobby for running onboard chargers, couldn’t lift a bigger one lol

Hey Nab,
Ahhh The Drove,,,How’s those blinking Pot holes !.
It was shut for a week or so, is it all open now ?.

I honestly think that as with any ‘Obvious & Encroaching’ Noise, it just doesn’t hurt to at least say to people that’s immediately around you that
‘I’m running a Generator for 30min or so, Then I’m done’
As you did. It’s a shame that it isn’t reciprocated when others Start up there Engines for De-mist, Heat Or charging Purposes, or Start their Jet Engine Hot air blowers late at night for Hours in end !.
I DO hope that your van is a dark colour, Don’t wat it to be too loud

Oh I DO love a good Generator thread, Probably as good as a Toilet Thread

I often wondered why parking a van should cause local residents to object and result in restrictions. Reading this it quickly becomes apparent how it only needs a few for all to lose the opportunity. Similar things have happened with inland boats.
A sad reflection of the modern trend to I’m alright Jack
Absolutely agree,
If people have to run Blown air heaters with screaming exhausts when it cycles all night, Constantly Exit a sliding door with a clunk, Run Engines at Stupid early or late hours then they may be much better off finding somewhere out the way to overnight. Like I do On The days I want to run my Generator For 30min Or So.
People like this really don’t think do they 😡,
AND for there to be TWO vans parked together with that kinda going on it’s beyond belief the thoughtlessness of it all.
As you say, Very much a case of
I’m alright jack if this is the norm for them, but I have to say in their defence on this occasion it was in a lay-by, By a A Road, With a Chill trailer running. So 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I should have put my Generator on 🤔

It can show us in a bad light
We have a bedsit house around the corner from us and they swap cars around to save spaces at 4 in the morning, I know what you mean.

A friend of mine who lives in a rented house in Milton Keynes lives in a culdisac with the house in the corner running a Taxi business.
It’s a Blinking nightmare!

Our problem I think is that if any of our number cause annoyance we are relatively easily stopped, as opposed to general noise annoyance where a permanent resident would be far more difficult to deal with.
As a single example take the seafront at Cleveleys where overnighting of vans was common and tolerated. It just took a few individuals to take up long term residence running their generators and annoying nearby residents and the excellent location is lost to all, including those who only stayed for a night and made no noise.

Seeing as the nearby residents are about a mile away I don’t think I will worry too much. I don’t park outside peoples houses unless visiting relatives and wouldn’t dream of stopping outside hotels as I see folks do.

I am very tolerant with tolerant people but can’t do with others

Yeah, it’s a shame THAT doesn’t work BOTH ways...
I bet the Vanlifers would’ve loved to have the house people chucked out for Mowing the Lawns, Strimming, Hedge Clipping for Hours on end One after another after another all the way down the street!.
Life just ain’t fair is it

I’d be interested in the overnights in Collioure, last time there, couldn’t find any WC spots so went to the aire. We parked up, went for a nose round & saw the prices marked up.
24 Euros per night, Christ! Let’s get outa here!, cost €3 to exit the bloody place!
Drove a few km down the coast to Port Vendres, OK there.

The spots I've located are inland from Collioure up in the hills.

Spectacular views but access is via a narrow road so not ideal for those of a nervous disposition and a largeish vehicle...

Realistic overnighting for collioure is realistically Angeles sur mur.if you don't fancy the mountain roads. You can get an English breakfast and pretend you are a tourist at the red lion .

Its not the loudness that give me cause to stop it. It's the exhaust gases when you down wind in your deck chair.

But in fairness THAT would be the same with ANY exhaust wouldn’t it
Engine
Blown air Heater
Ice cream van
Or whatever else I’d imagine 🤷🏻‍♂️
