Black marks from Fridge airvent ??

Hazy-thoughts

Guest
Hi all,
I have recently noticed that when the fridge is switched onto gas I am getting a black mark appear around though mostly above the airvent on the outside of the van. I thought at first this was a one off and cleaned it off easily enough but it seems to be reappearing. Is this anything to worry about, or do I just need to clean the flue ??

Thanks in advance

I presume the fridge has been serviced, or does not require one as it is too new.
Like all gas appliances they should be serviced once a year.

I have heard that some of the newer fridges can be a bit sooty on gas, especially if you are running on autogas.

My advice is to get it checked out, as you cant take risks with a gas appliance.

Check the flue is clean and that there is adequate fresh air to promote complete combustion of the fuel gas. The jet may need replacement and unless you are skilled at this let someone who is trained do it.

Fit a CO (Carbon monoxide) detector inside your van, it might save your life.

My jets in the fridge get blocked from time to time on AUTOGAS but I have not notices any sooting on the fridge vent. I use carburetor cleaner to clean the jet. DO NOT TRY POKING THE JET CLEAN it will damage it.
