Big thanks to this site

I know of someone who has been convicted because her dog killed a rat in her back garden. A nosey neighbour saw it and reported her to the RSPCA. I believe it was they who pressed charges.

It is my understanding that there is a blanket ban on any form of hunting with dogs.

Members of my extended family are hell bent on reducing the cat problem.:D
:D
BTW Michael, my wifes father was from the Shetlands. Unst to be precise.

All dogs should be licenced at least £150 a year and dog owners that let their dogs foul the footpaths should have their dogs put down cleaning dog s**t off childrens shoe's is no joke at least cats bury their droppings.
The best way to catch rabbits is by using Ferrets and Goshawks its great sport and a real art.

I'm sure I got some rampant ferret or goshawks' s**t on my shoe the other day. Seriously though, should it not be the errant dog owner that should be put down? Although I think this may entail a piece of legistlation that would be politically difficult to bring to reality.

That they do Kelly ALWAYS IN SOMEONE ELSES GARDEN just under the surface and sod all will grow where these worm ridden fleabags do dump, its no joke being a keen gardener getting this on your hands,

And the best way to catch rabbits is (A) long net and dark windy night (B) Lamp and silenced .22 (C) wire ,
Ferrets are a very inefficient way of getting rabbits although I would agree it must be great sport with the Goshawk,
The North American Red Tailed Hawk is the one for the Rabbits though,
The Lincolnshire poacher is well known and I bet you fly that woodland hawk on long tails under the cover of rabbiting

Iv'e only been to Unst twice Maingate, its a lot more rock outcrop that the other islands, still smashing though.
There is loads of wildcamping up here and we tend to park up where we fancy, we were up in Yell a couple of weeks ago, drove up to Sullom Voe and overnighted in the big lorry park (empty) overlooking the voe with the Oil terminal behind, next morning over on the ferry to yell spent the day at the Yell agricultural show but didnt stay for the dancing and getting legless bit we came back to the mainland and had a meal of Moules followed by Haddock and Chips with mushy peas, at the Brae chippy.
You can see the mussel lines out of the Chippy window so they are very fresh and as fat as butter probably the best Mussels in the uk
We then parked up overlooking the water between Brae and Voe, quaffed a few glasses of wine before getting wrapped in the arms of morpheus.
The van goes into storage next month as the weather is starting to deteriorate and the salt spray is bad news.

This has got a bit off thread  dogs/cats/hunting -- But if you want to stir it up I would stick dogs, cats & some of their owners in wheelie bins then dump the lot in the canal

BTW glad you enjoyed France, as you said it is liberating to be able to drive off knowing you be able to find a nice spot to park up for the night without to having to shell out a small fortune. Germany is also a very easy country to tour with plenty of stellplatz (the German equivalent of the aires) can recomend areas like the Mosel, the Black Forest & Bavaria.

cause we could get rid of old people as they got us into this mess by their voting etc over the years .we could eat the children as they also make a mess . infact we could get rid of many groups of people but its not really the answer. some fought a war to stop that sort of thing happening . (them old people ) hee hee
cheers alan.

Nonsense I hunt in the Winter every-week, I have tons of permission, and the RSPCA can’t do a thing about it, there is no blanket banning law on hunting (none), and if Mr Cameron gets his way things will move to a reprieve anyway, so up the Tories, as for the rat in the garden incident I find that a little hard to swallow.

Hmm Laptop

Hi Leltel - nice to know you have found this site useful - hope you share your travels with us - if you are taking a lap-top with you, you could post a daily report for us all to follow.

Take care and travel safe.

Laptop, now there is a sore subject...took my net book, brought a vodafone dongle, extra top up in case we needed it so that we could post on here during our travels......bl**dy dongle would not work! We are in the process of getting our dog a passport for next year (so he can chase the rabbits!) as we are going to France again for the Tour de France next year, hopefully we may have it sorted by then and we will post reports as we go.
