Wow, this site & our motorhome have changed our lives. A big thanks to the person who recommended the book, 'camperstop europe', to the recomendations for 'marine parade dover' and for the sat nav co ordinates. My hubby finally sees that we don't need campsites all the time! Spent a week in France, were booked into one campsite, ended up parking at an Aire in a village on our way then spent just one night at the campsite and toured the Picardie and Normandy coast, going down to Amiens before heading back to Calais. We are now going to get Marmite (our dog) a pet passport and will take him next year with us

You are so right there, France is well geared up for motor homes, we could do with the same here in Britain...... can't see it happening though!:(

Hi Leltel - nice to know you have found this site useful - hope you share your travels with us - if you are taking a lap-top with you, you could post a daily report for us all to follow.

Take care and travel safe.

Had some friends that use to live on the western Isles North Uist good rabbiting to be had there.

Dogs for the use off

Under recent legislation, it is now illegal to hunt wildlife with dogs.

Don`t know about salesmen though.

How about hunting wildlife with CATS then Maingate, are you against that also??

It’s also illegal to do most things in this country? Protect your property that’s a good one- however you can beat an elderly old man to death and get community service, that’s seems to be fine. But catch a rabbit god forbid.

Artificially produce chickens, that are then in turn are pumped full of protein for six weeks then sold, buy one get one free, yeah that’s fine!!

I most certainly am Michael.

For reasons I do not wish to disclose at this time.;)

Me too Maingate, the biggest scourge on our wildlife is the domestic cat, the nest of Wrens that hatched in my stone wall up here in Shetland were slaughtered by one this year
The Robins went the same way last year and countless small birds migrating through get the chop, the only bird they avoid is the Starling (tastes like crap apparently)

Licences and restriction orders should be brought out to control these obnoxious pests.

I believe it's not illegal to hunt rabbits and rats with dogs.

You might be right Andy, I believe the legislation brought out to restrict hunting wildlife with dogs was aimed at the use of lamping and long dogs for taking Deer, Foxes, Hares etc during the hours of darkness.
I am nearly sure they banned the coursing of hares with Greyhounds and Lurchers.
wether they managed to ban the use of Terriers for Fox eradication I dont know.
But knowing the way politicians work they might have just decided to stick a blanket ban over every aspect of dog work.

Cats certainly decimate the wildlife where I live (especially the feral variety), but most cat owners don't possess a cat intentionally to hunt wildlife. Admittedly the end result is the same, but the only remedy would be to make cat ownership illegal, not polically possible I would suggest.

Feral but with collars

The ruination of the small bird and mammal population is mainly down to the Domestic cat, once out of the confines of the place they stay they are as Feral as any that has never been in contact with humans,

Cat owners need to be put on a wildlife awareness program to understand to fully understand what it is they call PET.

these predators are not of these shores and should be checked,

There is no law against the Hunting of Rabbits or Rats, however one would need permission from the land owner.
